This exciting trip starts off in amazing Vietnam, with the Vietnam Experience. Starting in the North of Vietnam, in Hanoi and ending all the way in the south in Ho Chi Minh. After that, we take you on a 4 week trip to all the best parts and beaches in Thailand. Then Laos, from the Capital of Thailand, Bangkok, we take you up to the north of Thailand into stunning Laos, and back to Bangkok (so no flights needed here). Wow, what a trip!

Trip Frequently Asked Questions

The trip starts in Hanoi in Vietnam where you will be met at the airport. You then go to various different places via overland transport before ending back in Ho Chi Minh. You then need to arrange a flight from Ho Chi Minh to Bangkok for the start of the Thailand Experience. Your Thailand trip ends in Koh Tao, but we help you get back to Bangkok for the start of your Laos trip which is a round trip through North Thailand, through Laos, back to Bangkok, where you can fly home from.
Asia is very cheap in general, and because there are a lot of inclusions you will not need much. In Thailand and Vietnam, for example, all of your accommodation is taking care of. During the whole of your trip, you will have transfers and guides included and lots of activities. We recommend people’s take between 10 and £20 per day you can get away with less. In Laos, you need to pay for accommodation so add on another £10 a day
People on this trip typically are 60% female 40% male and between the ages of 18 and 25. Although that is not necessarily a reason to exclude you if you do not fall into this age category.

Yes. Xtreme Gap Year has lots of different staff and reps throughout Asia, we have our own base on Koh Tao and throughout mainland Asia as well. Please note you will not be guided by the same person for the duration of the trip, in each different country we employ different guides, however, you will be looked after by our local representatives throughout the duration of the trip.
You can book your space on this trip for a small deposit and then 12 weeks prior to departure you will need to pay the balance in full.

ITINERARY

Just about everything you could want out of a trip to Thailand in 4 weeks!

Day 1: WARM WELCOME ON ARRIVAL

Arrival day the moment you have been waiting for! The start to an awesome life changing Thailand trip! First off, if you have not been travelling before… it will be ok. We make it a hassle free arrival, the Xtreme Team will collect you from Suvarnabhumi Airport (the international airport in Bangkok) and take you to your super convenient Bangkok accommodation, which is a stone’s throw from the famous Khao San Road. The accommodation has a movie room, 2 pool tables, free WIFI and lots of Xtreme Gappers awaiting to join the adventure.

You will have the rest of the day/evening, depending on when you arrive, to relax after a long flight and meet the rest of your group. If you arrive in time we head out for a delicious Thai meal (local payment about £3-8) and explore the buzzing Bangkok area!

Day 2: WELCOME ORIENTATION AND EXPLORE BANGKOK

We will take it easy and all meet up at around 10:00 am to start a “real exploration” of Bangkok. This will be lead by our group leader, who will be with you for the next 2 weeks.

Prepare to see incredible things as we include an awesome boat trip through the ancient waterways of Bangkok. Not only will you get to experience stunning traditional communities off the backpacker trail, but we will also take you to the majestic Wat Arun – The Temple of the Dawn, Wat Pho, which is home to the most important reclining Buddha in the whole of Thailand and Wat Phra Kaew –  The Grand Palace.

watt arun thailandExpect an authentic look into traditional Bangkok and lets you see some of the most beautiful temples Thailand has to offer. The tour will last about 4 hours.

In the afternoon we head back to our guesthouse, just in time to freshen up and chill out before your ‘Welcome Dinner’ in the evening. After dinner, we are off to the infamous and exciting Khao San Road, the backpacker area of Bangkok,  where you will get a taste of the Thai night life.

Day 3:  KANCHANABURI RIVER ADVENTURES!

After a relaxing morning, and hopefully a full recovery from a fun night out in Bangkok, we arrange a private minivan to gorgeous Kanchanaburi north of Bangkok, which usually takes about 3 hours, depending on the Bangkok traffic!

Kanchanaburi is where the Kwae Yai and Kwae Noi rivers meet and is as picturesque as Thailand can get, with a magnificent backdrop of forested mountains stretching all the way to the Burmese border.

It’s famous for the film location of the movie ‘Bridge on the River Kwai’ where thousands of prisoners of wars and local Thai’s were forced to build the ‘Burmese Railway’ during WWII, it is a historic setting, but today it has transformed into a fun, chilled-out riverside town and your path to some great activities and experiences.

There´s lots to do here. Visiting museums and temples, swimming in pools by waterfalls, kayaking the rivers, and checking out temples

Once we have arrived, we check you into the hotel, freshen up and there is time to explore the area, see the sights and learn about the history – and of course enjoy a Singha beer or two while trying out some more traditional Thai food.

Day 4: BATHE IN STUNNING WATERFALLS

waterfallToday you’ll visit the exquisite waterfalls in the Erawan National Park. These waterfalls are considered one of the most beautiful places on earth, the waterfalls are truly made of absolute wonder! You will get to explore the several levels of these magnificent falls, each filtering into the different pools below, which you can swim in. How high you go, is of course up to you. The highlight here is a natural water slide that shoots you several metres down smooth stone into the emerald coloured water, so remember to have your GoPro’s and cameras charged! You are most definitely going to need them.

After your morning of photo shoots and an insane amount of fun and relaxation, you will head back to the hotel for the afternoon where you will have the chance to head into town and explore. Our guides are super knowledgeable of the area, so be sure to ask where all the best spots to eat, chill or party are.

Day 5: KAYAKING ON THE RIVER KWAE AND EXPLORING THE LOCAL AREA

The river Kwae is a real paradise for Kayaking! After breakfast at our Guest House, we will take you out for a fun-filled day of adventure, where you will get to go kayaking on the river Kwae and also explore some of the highlights of the local area. You might even see some monkeys on the way! Don’t worry, you don’t need to be a professional for this, in fact, no prior experience is needed, the river is pretty easy to navigate, you will get to see and experience the surroundings from a completely unique perspective.

Don’t forget sun cream, you will get a tan when you’re out and about today! After your epic day of kayaking and exploring the local area, we will head back to the Guesthouse to freshen up and get ready for dinner, a chilled evening at the cool laid back bars and enjoy a few cold ones as we watch the river go by.

Day 6: EXPLORE THE HEART OF THAILAND

Today we take you into the ‘heart’ of Thailand, the North East, known in Thailand as Isaan (Surin). If you ever wondered why Thailand is known as the ‘Land of Smiles’ wonder no more, you are now surrounded by one of the friendliest groups of people on the face of our planet. Surin is by far, one of the more ‘off the beaten track’ areas of Thailand and by the time you arrive you will have experienced the overwhelming and humbling friendliness from the local villagers.

The area is renowned for the best rice and you will be an absolute expert by the time you leave. They are also well known for its mixture of Thai, Khmer and Gwi people, it’s insanely awesome food (loads of chilli) and it’s elephants, who have played a major role in the communities here for centuries.

Once again, we have arranged a private vehicles and while the journey is around 8-9 hours, we will stop for lunch and we make the odd stop to stretch your legs. Tip: take some music with you, as nothing is better than to listen to good music, gaze out of the window and see the palm trees and rice paddies.

When you arrive, we check into your hotel for tonight, a fantastic place in Surin town, where you can freshen up before we take you out to the night market to find the best places to eat. The food in Surin town is so delicious, so don’t be afraid to get out there and explore, our recommendation, foodie lovers, is the night market – Best chow in town.

Days 7-9:  ELEPHANTS & CULTURE!

thailand elephantLooking after Elephants is on the cards for the next three days. After a bite to eat in the morning, we will leave Surin Town and make our way to a rural ‘elephant village’ about 50km’s away. The main highlight of this trip and also a really unique opportunity is not only to spend time with elephants, but also to live in a small rural Thai community, which is something which is fast becoming more and more difficult to experience. This is what backpacking and adventure is all about. Living like the locals and truly immersing yourself in the culture of the people and the land.

Our project has been vetted to ensure it is ethically run. There is absolutely NO elephant riding by our guests.

During these three days, you will get to:

    • Walk with the elephants to the local river and help the mahouts bathe them
    • Help the mahouts clean the elephant areas
    • Harvest / plant crops (depending on the season) for the elephants
    • Kayak on the local river
    • Learn how to make simple but great Thai food

     

    In the elephant village, you will get the awesome opportunity of living in a homestay, with the village headman and the members of his family, this is an Absolute honour and is something that you will truly take back with you. And…you will be sleeping just a few metres away from elephants.

    Note: On day 7 we’ll have lunch and dinner in the elephant village, on day 8 we’ll have breakfast, lunch and dinner in the village and on day 9, breakfast and lunch. All a great opportunity to cook alongside the local team and learn a few new foodie tricks – great to take home and show off to friends and family.

    Day 9 In the afternoon we will have to say goodbye to the elephants and new friends and head back to Surin town, staying overnight at the same hotel as on Day 6.

Day 10: KHAO YAI NATIONAL PARK DAY

Today we leave for Khao Yai National Park, this is the 3rd largest national park in Thailand. This rainforest is a World Heritage Site declared by UNESCO. The journey (by minivan or train, depending on the group size) will take roughly 3-4 hours and once you arrive in Pak Chong (the gateway to the National Park). We will check you into your base for the next 2 nights.

Day 11: TREKKING AND FOREST ENCOUNTERS

Khao Yai is absolutely stunning and one of Thailand’s most famous National Parks, but is often left off of travellers itineraries in their anticipation to just head to the beach. But you won’t miss out! Khao Yai boasts ancient and majestic towering forests, wild elephants and tigers, a colourful array of bird life and a number of different species of monkeys. This is a fantastic place to get a feeling of how much of Thailand really used to be. You will get to experience more beautiful waterfalls, one of which Leo Di Caprio jumped off (or pretended too!) for the making of The Beach.

You will spend the day exploring the National Park with a specialist guide, where you will hopefully get to see wildlife, like the herds of wild elephants. A bit of simple forest trekking is also on the menu for today. It’s superb fun, and again, don’t forget your camera and GoPro’s, but also don’t forget to just enjoy this day of splendour in this impressive natural landscape.

Day 12:  R & R IN BANGKOK       

Today we start heading back to Bangkok (by train, minivan or coach depending on group numbers) arriving back in the buzzing city of Bangkok around mid-afternoon if traffic is not too hectic.

You will check back into the same accommodation as at the start of the trip and you can have the evening to enjoy some shopping, exploring or partying …or why not just do all three?

Day 13:  BANGKOK CYCLE TOUR

One of Bangkok´s most unforgettable experiences. Experience local life and Thai culture by bike. After winding our way through the back alleys and streets of Bangkok’s backpacker district we head across the river and through some of the oldest communities in the city.

Passing by ancient temples, fascinating communities that seem so far removed from the rest of the city and all the while following the course of the river and canals this really is a spectacular opportunity to see a side of the city that is so often missed by travellers.

The tour takes around 3 hours – but times can and do vary! – and in terms of distance is not very far (+/-10km). And with Bangkok being totally flat it’s perfect for anyone and everyone, whether you’re a regular rider or not!

Day 14: BANGKOK, IT IS ALL YOURS!

Today you have a free day to spend with your new friends. There are plenty of options to keep you busy with the rest of the group. Ask our guide for suggestions! As this is the perfect place to go shopping prior to hitting the islands be sure to spend some time at the MBK shopping mall! It’s an experience and a great place to hunt for bargains! If you are feeling a little bit tired from all the fun and travelling, maybe a traditional Thai massage is the perfect antidote.

  • You’ve got most of today to do your own thing and explore a bit more of this fantastic city – just ask your guide for inspiration and they’ll help you see what you’d like to see.
  • Lots of people enjoy a lazy day today – we’re pretty sure you’ll have hit the bars and clubs last night – but if you want to get out and about why not do one of the following:
  • Give your body a treat and have a 2 hour Thai massage – trust us, you won’t regret it. There are loads of massage shops all around the Guest House with prices starting at +/- 250/300THB
  • Jump in a taxi and see the ‘other side’ of Bangkok – if you like a bit of retail therapy or even just window shopping then have a look at Siam Paragon, Siam Centre and Central World. All huge fancy shopping malls, great for people watching and even better if you’re craving a bit of comfort food from home. A taxi from your Guest House to Siam will cost around 150THB depending on the traffic!
  • If you’ve not had enough of boats and the river, then taking one of the boat ‘buses’ up the Chao Phraya is a brilliant way to spend a few hours. The ferry pier is only 10 mins amble from your Guest House and for the princely sum of between 15 and 19THB you can head all the way to Nonthaburi pier taking in all the sights and sounds of the city. Once you’re at Nonthaburi, have an explore and take a look at Bang Kwang Prison (the infamous Bangkok Hilton) and get lost in the local markets. Then simply hop back on a ferry back to where you started. Probably the cheapest day out possible in Bangkok!

All these trips and more can be arranged by your guide – just tell then what you’d like to do and they’ll help you get everything sorted. Just make sure you’re back at the accommodation by 6pm to meet back us with your group and begin the journey to the beach.

Whilst your guide from this part of the trip won’t be travelling to the islands with you, don’t worry, they will ensure that you know exactly what the plan and that you have all the contact numbers you need. They will then walk with you all to the check in for the transfer to Koh Tao and stay with you until you’re all safely aboard the overnight coach heading to the islands. Not long now until you see one of the most stunning islands in South East Asia!

This evening we travel to Koh Tao by luxury coach and fast boat, arriving on Koh Tao the next morning.

Day 15: ARRIVAL IN PARADISE KOH TAO

Xtreme Gappers (58)On arrival, you will have a full introduction from our resident rep who will settle you into the island life and it will go like this:

    • You arrive by night bus and boat on Sunday morning where you will be picked up and taken to your accommodation where breakfast is served!
    • Once you are checked in, you have time to relax, jump in the pool at your resort and freshen up.
    • In the afternoon around 4, our Rep Miss Jai will meet you and the rest of the group at the bar and give you an intro to Koh Tao. She will show you around, tell you the essentials and show you where everything is, like ATMs, pharmacies, beaches and activity locations. She is on hand throughout the week if you need her too.
    • You will then go out for dinner (on us) with the rest of the group, expect a tasty Thai curry! The next day you will be taken by miss Jai to start your activity, depending on the option you have picked.
    • Your Koh Tao itinerary will be explained to you locally. Where and when you have to be will be put up on the Xtreme Gap notice board at the resort.

Day 16-28: ACTION WEEK & BEACH WEEK

IMG_1904The Koh Tao Action and Beach week itinerary are flexible because it depends on the option you choose for the action week and the weather, but in general you have 13 days to check out the amazing beaches, get involved in some cool adventures with your new friends and enjoy the epic sunsets and nightlife.

You will also have your Xtreme Adventure Day so there will be plenty to do and certainly never a dull moment!

TROPICAL ISLAND PARADISE…WOW!

Koh Tao has some of the best beaches in Thailand, it is also one of the most popular backpacker hubs in South East Asia, but not ruined like some of the other islands, there is a great community and vibe to the place you are going to love spending time here.

We have many Xtreme Gappers resident on the Island as we run lots of different trips there so there is lots going on. It is also a great place to learn to dive as well, so you can take advantage of getting your PADI Open Water while you are there as well.

This part of the trip is all about being social and having fun, you can take long tail boat trips around the island, enjoy amazing Thai food and stay up all night in some of the best beach clubs and bars in Asia. After a few days of chill, you will want to pick up the pace again, so we finish the trip with the action week! The Koh Tao adventure day is the perfect end to the week.

FOOD & EATING OUT

Please note we include 1 breakfast and 2 meals on Koh Tao. There are plenty of restaurants serving delicious and healthy Thai food as little as one pound per meal and there is a restaurant the resort also.

We do not include food because it’s such a sociable atmosphere with so many great places to eat and explore you will want to go off and eat out with lots of new friends. Including food would really limit your options and detract from the whole experience. Bear in mind though we do include food for the first two weeks of this programme (Most other gap year companies ´s Thailand programmes do not) so you have already saved over £250 worth of spending money by booking with Xtreme.

You will receive a welcome breakfast, a lovely Thai meal on your first evening in Koh Tao and a BBQ after the Beach Clean up day though.

THE ADVENTURE DAY

The adventure day is just that an adventure, so sometimes we mix it up. But below is a summary of what you can expect.

Everyone meets at the Xtreme Gap Resort for a breakdown of the days activities.  Expect to be taken to a pretty amazing viewpoint on the neighbouring paradise island of Koh Nangyuan. Even the ride itself is a lot of fun, open air on a longtail boat with spectacular views of Sairee beach.

There will be plenty of time to explore the island, swim with tropical fish and chill on in this piece of perfection.

On arrival at Sairee beach, we will pull up to a pool bar so you can grab a sundowner and watch a spectacular sun set into the ocean.

Koh Tao cross that
So when you are lying on a dreamy white sandy beach, in a paradise setting wouldn’t it be nice to have the body to match. With our cross fit package you can! Four full on cross fit sessions, with professional accredited Cross fitness trainers will whip you into shape so you will not feel guilty about lazing on the beach, and dipping into the Gulf of Thailand will be so much more rewarding.

If you are not familiar with the concept of cross fit, you can join the 4 Foundation classes. These 4 classes will teach you all the basic movements and techniques for CrossFit, so that they are able to do the movements safely and effectively. These classes are similar to personal training as our coach will spend lots of time helping them with the movements.

We run the Foundation classes every day at 10.15am and so they can easily do the Foundation classes in a week.

Please also check out the video below it is the latest fitness craze that has become huge. It’s highly effective high-intensity WODS (work out of the day) mixes hundreds of different techniques and every day is always different. With this option is the perfect way to get into excellent physical shape and get that perfect beach body!

Thailand Muay thai Training (7)
The fit package is the most popular option. It includes 5 Muay Thai sessions taken over five days. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never done it before, learning the national sport of Thailand in a cool jungle gym is an awesome experience. It is a great way to try something new, get really fit and learn much more about the culture of Thailand.

You will under go a modified non-contact training regime in the camp that host monthly Muay Thai fights, a really authentic and cool experience!

Some like to do it in the morning and then hit the beach others like the cooler evening training times.

Koh Tao yoga option
Probably one of our most chilled out options, you have five sessions working on your well-being, and flexibility with a fantastic yoga package. Set in landscaped gardens surrounded by coconut groves there’s a special feeling about the place.

Just a short stroll from the ocean, you will find a gorgeous yoga Sala, where we have included five sessions are you to get into yoga spirituality and hopefully find Nirvana.

Even if you’ve never tried yoga before this is the perfect place to do it, as everyone is welcome to come and give it a go and it is the perfect activity to take if you want to turn your Koh Tao experience into the ultimate chilled out beach time.

This is a full blow PADI Open Water course worth over £200. The course lasts 3/4 days and includes 4 dives in the beautiful Gulf of Thailand. Afterwards, you have your PADI Open Water license and can dive anywhere in the world! Not sure about this option? You can always add it on while you are out there with us in Thailand.

This is probably the most Xtreme option, and one of the most rewarding! Our professional freediver instructors will teach you the basics of Freediving, and accompany you down to depths of 12 metres!

The actual course itself lasts 2 days and included theory and water based instruction. Free diving is about breath holds diving, so no use scuba equipment. This means you are not limited by nitrogen in your blood or depth limits. It takes mental and physical training to become an expert free diver, but our course will certainly get you well on your way there. With beautiful Marine life, soft and hard corals it’s a great way to train yourself to experience the best that the underwater environment has to offer in Koh Tao.

If you’re really lucky you may even get a free diving the whale shark!

NIGHTLIFE & BEACH TIME & ACTIVITIES

Koh Tao is not only famous for its great diving and beautiful beaches, there is quite a party scene there too! Picture cool beach bars, fire shows, awesome night clubs like Fizz bar within easily stumbling distance to your accommodation. If you want to have some serious fun after the sun sets, you will not be disappointed.

This is a great way to finish up on your trip, after experiencing the culture its time to party. Speaking of which…

Beach Clean up day

Ecodave Xtreme GapAt Xtreme gap year we strongly believe in leaving a positive impact on the locations we visit. Mass tourism does take its toll on the environment. This is especially true on small tropical islands like Koh Tao. We strongly feel  it is everyone’s responsibility to make a contribution to maintaining, and improving the places that we visit. We have partnered with Koh Tao’s leading conservation organisations and every trip we run makes a financial contribution to Eco-conservation efforts.

So as part of this trip, we co-host an eco-day. This is split into two parts. A lecture by leading conservationists, on marine conservation, and a hands-on beach clean-up so you can make a physical real difference during your trip. The aim is to provide you with information so you can make people aware of the issues. As well as physically helping out with marine conservation efforts.

It’s a fun day out, it’s a great way to see lots of out of the way beaches on Koh Tao, and feel good about yourself whilst making a positive difference on the island. In the evening we finish up with a barbecue, in one of Koh Tao’s hotspots by way of saying thanks for your efforts.

If you have completed your Open Water diving course as part of this programme, you can be involved in underwater clean-ups, if not its land-based conservation which is just as, or if not even more vital to marine conservation efforts. 80% of trash entering the waters comes from land-based sources.

Trial Scuba Dive & Stand Up Paddling

With crystal clear waters, water sports on Koh Tao are amazing! Included as part of the programme you get to try out scuba diving! Safely guiding you in a swimming pool, in a controlled environment. We will let you try out breathing underwater from scuba gear. It’s a great way to get a feel for diving, and an incredible experience is never done it before. If you do like it, you can always upgrade to doing an Open Water course and take full advantage of the fact that Koh Tao is one of the best places to learn to dive in the world. If diving really is not your thing, don’t worry you don’t have to do it but most people who try, end up going for a full-blown Open Water scuba dive course afterwards. It’s an amazing experience to explore and breathe underwater. This is just one of many extra additional inclusions we throw into the trip, where other companies would leave you to go “snorkelling”.

End of your trip> Transfer Back to Bangkok

We do not include the transfer back in the price as there are a few options. Some of our travellers stay on the island or travel on in Thailand and Asia, some will take the boat and bus service back to Bangkok and some will prefer to go by plane from the next door island Koh Samui. read about the options in the frequently asked questions section below. Most will take the boat and bus option which our rep can arrange for you. Its super easy and will costs about 20 GBP.

Flexible Itinerary

Please note this is a flexible itinerary. Due to local conditions, changes can and often do happen at local level,  which means the above itinerary, and things listed in the included section,  is meant as a reference guide as to what might happen not as a contractual obligation as to everything included. Sometimes we add additional things into the itinerary, sometimes we do not do all the things listed due to group members wanting to do other activities instead.

ACCOMMODATION

Because you stay in various different locations throughout the trip accommodation does vary, however, expect to stay in comfortable and clean and secure accommodation. On the islands, you will stay in a luxury resort, with a swimming pool set in beautiful Thai Gardens just a short walk from the beach and bars and restaurants.

The accommodation in the resort in Koh Tao is the basic fan option at a great resort, perfect for your stay in paradise. It’s the main resort Xtreme Gap uses in Thailand, Xtreme Gappers to hang out with and share adventures. Accommodation is shared on a twin share in a Fan Room. Upgrades to Aircon rooms are only possible on Koh Tao and only upon booking. A short stroll through a lovely street with little shops and some restaurants and just 5 min from the beach will get you to this perfectly located resort. A beautiful and laid back resort with a swimming pool, bar and restaurant set in tropical Thai gardens. The fan rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable, have an en-suite and there is a maid service twice a week and a laundry service (approx. £1.50 per big bag load) located next door.

One of the benefits of booking your trip on Koh Tao with Xtreme Gap Year is not only do you get to do this awesome activity, but you will become part of the Xtreme gap family on Koh Tao. We will pick you up from the pier and give you a warm welcome at our stunning resort. On your first night, our resident representative will take you out for a gorgeous Thai meal annual get to know all of the other members of the group. When you are booking a trip with us it is not just about the activity so please bear this in mind if you are comparing prices to other companies. No other company has such a big presence in Koh Tao, runs groups of like-minded travellers so booking a trip with us is as much about the friends you make as well as the experiences you will have.
We offer airport pick up’s between 06:00 and 22:00 on arrival day and would encourage you to try to arrive at the airport by mid-afternoon so that you have time to freshen up, relax and then enjoy your first night in this amazing city.
It takes about 45-90 min to get through customs, depending on how busy it is, if your flight is scheduled to arrived at 21:45, dont worry, there will still be someone waiting for you. Same applies if your flight arrives at 5am, just hangout at Exit 1 and your guide will be there at 6am.

PLEASE NOTE: We do not offer transfers if you are flying into DMK (Don Meaung Airport 

If you are arriving outside these times (between 6am and 10pm) or are already in Thailand, then of course you are more than welcome to ‘make your own way’ to your first night’s accommodation in Bangkok, which is the group meeting point. Taxis are reasonably priced and easy to get from Bangkok International Airport

Most of your transfers on this trip are in private vehicles (ie just for you and the group). Exactly what sort of vehicle, depends on the group size.

Why is this important?

Whilst there is lots of public transport available in Thailand, much of it is very uncomfortable, there are very few regulations about safety (it’s not uncommon for drivers to be on the go for 18-24 hours plus) and also it’s almost impossible to guarantee to get a group of travellers together (with their bags) all in the same vehicle. On some routes you’re able to buy tickets in advance but on many other routes it’s a matter of hoping there is room on the bus or simply waiting for another.

Not the best way to spend your precious time.
By using private transfers we can:
• Guarantee the safety standards of the companies we use
• Ensure that drivers are assessed, do not drive too far in one go, are not drunk etc
• Ensure that all the group are in the same vehicle and that we’re not waiting ages for another bus to come
• Plan our trips to fit in what’s best for the traveller – rather than what’s best for a transport company!
What transport do we use?
For groups of 10 or less we use ‘luxury’ minivans. With comfortable seats, air-conditioning, good experienced drivers – and a decent sound system if you want to listen to some tunes – these are perfect. Of course they leave when we ask them to, we can stop en route where we want to and the whole travel experience is far better, far more comfortable and far safer than any ‘public’ minivan.

Additionally, as there’s no random stopping to drop people off / pick people up they are far quicker – even though we can ensure that speed limits are obeyed!
For long distances with larger groups we use private coaches. These have the same benefits as the private minivans along with, of course, more space. Depending on the size of the group we use either 30 or 40 seater coaches (we always make sure there’s enough room for baggage!) giving you great room to spread out a bit and relax.
The journey from Kanchanaburi to Surin in particular is a horrible one by public transport. As a group we would need to travel to either Ayutthya or Bangkok, then change to another bus or minivan (with all the waiting around that entails) and then head to Surin – not only adding a whole load of wasted time but also a whole load of elements that are then unplanned (what time with the minvan leave, will we all be able to get into the same minivan etc).
The journey from Surin to Pak Chong may, on occasion with smaller groups, use the train. Whilst the train is slower than a private minivan or coach, it can be fun and gives a very different travel experience to the group, provides different scenery and of course allows to you wander around.

All our guides are Thai, bi-lingual (Thai and English) and fully licensed and trained – as is required by Thai law. In fact it’s illegal to be a tour guide in Thailand if you’re not Thai and quite right too – after all Thai people know their own country better than anyone else, tend to speak much better Thai than anyone else (!) and also are simply the best people at making sure anyone in Thailand has a great time.

Thai’s are also some of, if not the world’s best problem solvers. Growing up in a country where the unexpected can and does tend to happen makes Thai people absolute experts at anything anyone can throw their way. And they still manage to sort out any issues with a smile on their face, not an easy thing!
After all, why come all the way to Thailand to be led around the country from someone from home? Thai’s do and will always know their own country best and understand everything about what’s going on as opposed to those from elsewhere who often think they understand, but don’t really!

Our guides know the locations you’re travelling to like the back of their hand. They know the coolest places (not necessarily the place that the guidebooks think are the coolest!), they know the places to avoid (not always easy to spot when you’re not from here) and they know how to have the most fun.

They’ve not just travelled here for a few months – they’ve lived here all their lives and you just can’t replace that sort of insider knowledge. They all work full-time with us and are constantly updating their knowledge from our network of guides (bars and clubs are always changing and why waste your time heading to a bar that is oh so last season?) and making sure they keep their fingers on the pulse of what’s going on.

Full-time guides are quite a rarity in Thailand – lots of companies prefer to use freelance guides to make sure they aren’t paying salaries in between tours – but we believe passionately in full-time employment for our team. This means that they can plan their lives and support families, they know that we will always look after them and, equally importantly, we can run on-going training and support programmes for our team. Simply put – full-time guides are way better at delivering tours than those who jump between different companies and different styles of travel.
We run on-going training for all of our guides to ensure their skills are top quality and they manage to combine huge amounts of laughs and fun with keeping everyone fit, healthy and safe. 

No, most of our travellers are solo travellers. You will meet lots of people on the different weeks. With group start dates and lots of group activities, you will make new friends really easy.

The trip ends in Koh Tao on Saturday, please note return transfer is not included in the price of the trip. This is because many people choose to travel onwards to other locations or stay in Koh Tao to do further programmes.

Returning back to Bangkok to meet your flight is very easy, transfers can be arranged on Koh Tao through rep and the cost is approximately £15. If you’re flying out straight after the trip ends, you have two options to meet your flight in Bangkok.

Our recommended option is to fly from Koh Samui directly to Bangkok airport, rep can organise your bus tickets to Samui airport, this will involve catching the boat late Saturday morning and arriving in Koh Samui at around three o’clock. Transfers are provided from the pier direct to the airport and are complimentary.

Please ensure that your flights are not booked any earlier than this and do allow for delays, so we would recommend not booking a flight back to Bangkok until the afternoon which also allows time to check in at the airport as well. Check Bangkok Airways the cheap flights booked ahead this should not cost you any more than £30 the flight time is approximately 40 min.

Option two would be to get the morning boat from Koh Tao back to Bangkok via bus and boat, the transfer time between six and eight hours typically you will get back into Bangkok about 10 o’clock in the evening. This would require an extra night stay in Bangkok, and if you are to pursue this option we do not recommend you do not organise your international flight until Sunday. Again the cost for this transfer is about £15.

If you are planning on travelling to Thailand for 28 days or less and you have British, Dutch or USA passport you can get a Visa exemption on arrival. This is valid for 28 days and cannot be extended in Thailand. If you are planning on being in Thailand longer than 28 days you will need to pre-arrange a Visa. You can prearrange a visa for 60 days which you can extend to 90 days in Thailand.

There are two ways of arranging your visa. When you are from the UK. You can either go in person to the Thai embassy in London, or you can post your passport along with the necessary documentation and fee to one of the Thai Consulates. In general this works the same for the other countries like The Netherlands and United States too, but please contact the nearest Thai Consulate for visa inquiries.

Some of our customers prefer a bigger room or an aircon room. We can arrange this, but it needs to be done at the time of booking, as the resort often fills up. If you are on the programme and still want to arrange it, you would have to arrange that with reception at the resort, and pay for accommodation again. So best to let us know at time of booking.

This is a hard question as age range does vary. On the groups that join the intro and culture weeks the average age is between 18 and 22. On Koh Tao with the Koh Tao Adventure (which are the last 2 weeks of this programme) the average age tends to be in the twenties.

Is this trip suitable for you? The average age on this trip is between 18 and 22. Although it is open to all. The makeup of the groups is usually 75% female to 25% male, just going to show, girls really are braver than boys! So come on lads, what are you waiting for? Prove us wrong!

The final week finishes on the Saturday morning, so you can arrange your transfer back to Bangkok with Miss Jai via boat and Bus (12 hours) or book a flight from Koh Samui to Bangkok (2 hour boat and 45 minute flight). This is the preferred option for most of our travellers as this gets you straight in to the international airport for a smooth flight connection back home.

Fast & Easy Results – Our Boot Camp is effective at identifying ways of reaching health and fitness goals in a faster way. Left to your own devices you might struggle to get there at all and classes or sessions which repeat one style of exercise might not deliver the right results on time either. This gives you the time and effort to focus on your fitness goals.

Fantastic facilities: It’s not all hard work! In your free time, you’ll relax beside the pool in our  resort, treat your tired muscles to massages and enjoy the luxury of someone else doing the cooking for a change. Over the weekend, you’ll have free time to explore the beaches and rice fields of beautiful Bali. Very different from training in your normal gym in the home.

Dynamic workout -Many people lose focus and motivation because they get bored. The whole point of Boot Camp is that it is as diverse as it is intense. If you add in the fact that you will be progressing and changing along the way, then you have an interesting exercise mix that should keep you engaged enough to realise your exercise goals.

Like-minded training buddies -Some people take up activities for the social scene, others because they are firmly fixed on a goal. A real positive about Boot Camp is that because of what it stands for, you are going to meet other people similar to yourself who want to seriously improve their lives. However, this shared goal means that there is a sense of camaraderie and support which is not always found in other exercise sessions. Weekly  Personalised Training Sessions 1 time a week – These sessions an opportunity to monitor your progress, and to guide your fitness regime so that you arrive at your desired goals. During these sessions, you can develop the ideal schedule, diet and supplement plan working closely with a train in a small group of training buddies. (Max 2-1 student trainer ratio). This is all about you and your journey. Note this is not included in the lean option. This is all about you and your journey. 

Concentrated focus -If you already keep active and fit with regular exercise then your attention is already geared towards health and fitness. However, at times, if you want to make big changes, such as to lose weight and tone up quickly and effectively or gain muscle, you may need to up the ante and focus in on your goal. Boot Camp is an ideal way to help you reach your target by honing in on what you want and offering intense exercise sessions to make sure you get there.

Creates healthy expectations – You are there to train! Classes back home,  which you can easily dip in and out of might offer a relaxed way of keeping in shape, but they don’t necessarily generate a sense of personal responsibility. A fitness holiday where you have committed your time and money  will motivate you into putting in the effort and determination needed! It can really inspire you to put healthy pressure on yourself. With our constantly varied programming, you will rarely do the same workout. You will never have to programme your workouts or spend hours in the gym. Instead, each day a workout will be provided for you that is scalable to suit your fitness level.

Training consists of cross fit classes, body 360 (hi cardio excellent for weight loss), yoga (5 sessions a week!), Barbell work outs and beach work outs and beach runs.

 

Accommodation Options

At the Xtreme Gap Fitness Bootcamp relaxation is just as important as the training.

bali-fit02The training can take it out of you, so to relax after a hard session you stay in comfortable accommodation with a stunning pool, and your own deluxe room or shared room in our stunning Fitness Villa with  pool and roof top jacuzzi over looking the ocean. Both super close to a stunning beach. Here you have the perfect blend of healthy fitness workouts and complete relaxation at the end of the day.

Shared Villa

Right by the ocean and on campus is our beautiful massive villa! Boasting pool and Jacuzzi, chill out areas with views of the ocean and a warm friendly welcome this will be your home during your stay.

The perfect set up to relax, meet other bootcampers and feel right at home. This is the social hub of the bootcamp but also large and private enough to have important relax and down time.

The sleeping arrangements are based on airconditioned, shared ensuite mini dorms with max. 2 – 4 persons (mixed gender).  Airconditioning operates from 7 pm to 7 am ensuring you get a comfortable nights sleep. During the day the villa benefits from an ocean breeze and plunge pools to cool you off after training. This is a communal set up so can be quite social and great to meet people.

If the idea of sharing is not your thing consider it is just for sleeping and you will be tired in the evening for sure! Beds are equipped with the highest quality luxury mattresses and there is plenty of space in the villa to relax. We are located right by the beach as well.

We have large screen TVs, movie projector and a huge library of DVDs for chilling in the evening.

The Luxury Deluxe Option

If you do not wish to share and would like even more luxury, your fitness training will be complemented perfectly by a stay in our beautiful deluxe hotel option. Located right next to the best beach in Bali, you can relax in between training sessions on the white sands of Jimbaran, or at the stunning pool of the hotel. The luxury deluxe option is located 5-minute walk to the training camp and is the epitome of luxury. This exclusive resort is brand new in 2016 and caters to those with higher budgets.

Complete with stunning pool and roof top lounge with unrivaled views of Jimberan bay it is a lovely place to stay if you can afford the extra expense.

The Surrounding Area

Our stunning bootcamp is set in an exclusive quieter area of Bali called Jimberan. The perfect beach with views stunning rollers, its the perfect location for a mental and physical reset. You can also venture down to the traditional markets, enjoy fine dining with a selection of lovely restaurants or sunbathe on a white sandy beach. The beach and the hotel are separated by a road, and along the road, there are local Seafood Cafés.

The location is rewarded by some of the best sunsets in Bali, with temples and plenty of points of interest nearby.

If salt water is not your thing we have two beautiful swimming pools in the resort. But it’s close to everything else as well, so you have plenty of opportunities to go explore. Taxis are cheap in Bali, and there are plenty of areas of interest you to visit including temples, resorts, beaches and areas of cultural interest. Day trips can be booked through our Bali team.

Location

It’s a really nice location because it’s not too touristy. The village itself used to be a fishing village and is located in a huge white sandy bay. Every morning you can still take a stroll down to the beach and see the fishermen returning with their fresh catch. It’s now a great location to be based for fitness activities. With the establishment of our Boot Camp, plus the huge array of water sports available to you ( surfing, stand up paddle) it’s quite a good place to be to combine relaxation and getting active.

In the evenings you will be rewarded with the most beautiful sunsets, plus there are plenty of beachside restaurants to sip on a cold fruit shake and watch traditional Balinese dancing shows and hundreds of fire lanterns drifting into the night sky.

This is not the location to be at if you’re expecting lots of nightlife, although this is available in Kuta just 20 minutes away, the priorities of people training in our Boot Camp is about fitness, weight loss and strength and conditioning training, morning start early and people are usually in bed before 10.

The bootcamp is located conveniently place between Bali’s tourist hotspots. When you are not training, it’s easy to get out and explore. You are only 20 Minutes to Kuta, 35 minutes to Nusa Dua, 35 minutes to Sanur, 35 minutes to Denpasar City.

Excursions

Every week we head out with the new arrivals to the jaw-dropping Uluwatu temple, perched on the southern cliff face of Bali, home to hundreds of cheeky monkeys!

Then after we drive to Padang Padang beach for a swim and to catch the sunset. A world famous surf break, beach access is through a cave revealing golden sands and impressive sunset views.

We provide the transport during the excursion (you sign up to them at the villa) but please note there is a very small local payment to access Uluwatu Temple and Padang Padang (about £2.50 per attraction).

Really Motivating

Many people struggle to get motivated into taking their health and fitness seriously. Think about it, who has the time to hit the gym properly or go for a run in our busy lives? When you do get round to it, where is the motivation?

The great thing about the fitness Boot Camp is that you can take time out of your hectic schedule to do something that is really ideal for your well-being, and you know you will be supported every step of the way.

It is not just about the training sessions, it is about doing it in a group atmosphere, seeing improvements as the days go by with your new training buddies.

What can the Bali Fitness Boot Camp do for you?

Everyone is different, with different goals. Some people are really unfit others have a good base level of fitness, either way, you will benefit from spending some time training here and you will see remarkable improvements.

You will be impressed by what you can achieve

It is a really motivating environment. The majority of people at the camp travel there on their own which leads to a really social and supportive atmosphere because everyone has there  with the same goal.

When this is coupled with superb trainers, scheduled classes and all the equipment you could need, there really is nothing stopping you. You will be amazed by what you can achieve, because with group training sessions slacking off is less of an option, and the training is quite addictive once you get into it.

We have had clients who have gone from 1 week to 8 weeks, and the feedback is consistently excellent. With a varied and flexible training timetable, morning and evening you will not be bored.

The Training

With an impressive roster of trainers, we are continually improving our fitness routines incorporating the latest Crossfit methods and techniques. At the Xtreme Bali fitness Bootcamp, we use high-intensity cross fit training to develop strength fitness and flexibility.

With so many people coming and training the camp, naturally, the latest fitness techniques are incorporated and developed in the training programmes. With just one month spent training at the Xtreme Gap fitness Boot Camp, we can confidently state that you can develop so much further than six months with a personal trainer back home.

During the first couple of sessions, you will be enrolled on a lighter version of the training programme. This is to ensure you can get up to speed and benefit the most out of the workouts.

The Bali Fitness Bootcamp Training Schedule

The majority of the training program is focused on Cross fit. Cross fit uses functional movements to deliver explosive workout sessions. Due to the intensity of these sessions, it can be quite strenuous on your body so we include a lot of rest time and more low-intensity activities to help your body recover and rebuild in between sessions.

Typically the timetable consists of two group Cross fit training sessions lasting one hour each per day plus a full six hours of open gym access to you to work on your own training plan as devised by your personal trainer.

On Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays session start early morning before the tropical heat and humidity builds up at 6 AM. If you have the endurance to push through you can have the option of doing a double training session on these days completing another one at 7 AM. Tuesdays and Thursdays training starts at 7AM.

There is a further cross fit session at 5 PM if you miss the morning session or want to split your training between mornings and afternoons.

Body Fit
Body Fit is every Tuesday and Thursday at 9am. This class consists of light weight and bodyweight movements programed to get your heart rate up and sustained throughout a longer working periods. Great for fat loss, toning, firming, and overall endurance.

Barbell Club
This class is all about strength gains, mobility, and coordination. Olympic weightlifting is one of the most athletic sports around demanding many things from your body. If you want to work on your strength capacity, flexibility, and coordination, this class is for you.

PT Sessions (Included on Standard Options)

Your personalized training sessions happen 1 time per week during the open gym access. This is your opportunity to discuss with your dedicated trainer your own particular goals, set your workouts and come up with a structured plan for you to work on. One personalized training session per week is sufficient for most clients, however, if you want to book extra this is also possible at £40per session. The PT sessions are delivered with a max. 2-1 student to trainer ratio although usually these are 1-1.

Surf Lesson

We include one surf lesson per stay. As you may know, Bali is the quintessential surf location, and with great views of airport right (one of the top surf spots in the world) live and direct from our roof terrace, you will be tempted to hit the surf!

We will pick you up with the rest of the group and take you to a Surf lesson at a different location. You get to see more of Bali and experience surfing at the same time!

5 Yoga sessions per week are also included in the programme (3 on the lean). As well as a multitude of sports you can join (not obligatory) like beach volleyball, Stand Up Paddle, basketball and a football pitch at our own sports facilities.

The Training Facilities

The training facilities are arguably some of the best in Bali. A substantial training facility that can accommodate up to 80 clients at one time. Not only do we have a fully functioning CrossFit area, plus resistance weights and an impressive stock of weights and machines. We also have recreational activities like volleyball, basketball and the soccer field as well.

Occasionally we hold conferences on health and fitness with guest speakers in the lecturing facilities there, although this is usually a special one-off event and not included in a typical package per se.

 

Nutrition Programme (Excluded on Lean Option)

Training hard and efficiently is only one factor that goes into delivering great results. What you put into your body is arguably even more important. One of the great things about the Bali fitness bootcamp, is we include a unique nutrition programme to really complement your fitness training goals. Our international team of French, New Zealand and Indonesian nutritionists have created a delicious healthy eating menu giving your clean healthy food for your Lunch options.

Note: 2 meals per day (excluding Sunday your well-deserved day off) are included. You will receive a buffet breakfast in the morning consisting of tasty  energy supplying oats, fresh fruit, boiled eggs, tea and coffee. If you have not booked the “lean option” you also get a  protein shake.

You then have the choice of taking lunch at the Villa (included) with multiple options from a healthy eating menu.

Our meal plan is designed with different fitness goals in mind. If you are looking to bulk up and gain muscle mass you may need to purchase additional meals or protein, to reach your desired calorific intake.

Why do we not include all meals? 

It makes it more social. Jimbaran is a spectacular location with many cheap and stunning restaurants in the local area. Many set up right on the beach. With the option of having dinner outside of the villa, you can enjoy the social scene with your fellow bootcampers, by going out to dinner. Taking all meals in the villa you would genuinely miss out.

If you would prefer to take both lunch and dinner in the villa, or don’t fancy venturing out you can purchase an additional meal healthy meal from reception each day. The cost for this is about £5 per meal.

Lunch is served from 12.30 (and dinner if you like to order the extra meal as well around 6 PM). You can take this on our spectacular roof terrace. Meaning you can get back from training, shower and enjoy a beautiful Balinese sunset before sitting down to dinner with your fellow bootcampers, in the villa or out locally. Fun, super social and easy!

Nutrition Consultation

Please Note: Personalised nutrition consultation is not included in this bootcamp, but we can connect you with our nutritionist online at our Thailand Fitness Bootcamp if you like.  After booking you have access to an online learning resource that will teach about the benefits of nutrition, eating clean and how to compliment your training with nutrition.

Here are some foundational facts about our meal plan.

  • Everything we use in our products are natural wholesome ingredients – we don’t ever use preservatives, artificial products, or MSG
  • We season using organic palm sugar and natural Bali sea salt
  • We source top-notch meat which are slow-cooked to get that juicy tenderness
  • Our vegetables come direct from Bedugul farms to our kitchen which means they travel through a short distance which equals max nutrients in your body.
  • Foods are immediately prepped & cooked on the day. When it arrives on your table, it’ll taste as if you cooked a healthy balanced meal yourself!
  • Please note you receive 6 lunch meals per week, if you skip one or choose to eat elsewhere the meals are not transferable to a later date.

HEARTY LAMB MOUSSAKA

Ground New Zealand lamb & chicken with garlic, tomatoes, grilled zucchini, eggplant with a layer of local sweet potato mash and a drop of béchamel sauce.

SALMON RATATOUILLE

Salmon steak topped with oyster mushrooms drizzled in orange sauce coupled with sweet potato ratatouille and pesto.

CHICKEN YUMMY

Ground chicken, bacon, leek, lentils, tomatoes, sweet corn, topped with a layer of mashed sweet potato. Flavours blended to perfection.

RENDANG ROOTS

Generations-old family recipe of traditional Indonesian beef Rendang with a healthy twist – slow cooked beef marinated in coconut milk & Balinese spices with crushed root vegetables on the side.

*Subject to change. Meals are frozen to seal in the nutrients at the time of cooking and need to be ordered and prepared prior to consumption. This can take 40 minutes so please plan when to take the meal accordingly. They can be delivered to your resort or taken at the training facility. You can order you meal via whats app.

Getting To Training Sessions

While you are there to train, no one is going to get you out of bed to attend classes. You need to make your own way to the fitness classes every day. Not a problem however as the training facilities are located right next door to the accommodation.

On Arrival

On arrival in Denpasar, we will pick you up at the airport and transfer you to your accommodation. The journey is short approximately 15 Minutes to the International Airport. We recommend a Sunday arrival although we can be flexible.

On the first day of your training, our Xtreme Gap rep will give you a full introduction, introduce you to the trainers, show you around the camp and talk you through the training timetable.

Everything is made really easy for you, allowing you to just focus on having a great time, getting fit and having a really great holiday.

Early Arrival

If you arrive a day early, accommodation is not included. Check in is only on Sunday. Airport pick up is included, all day at anytime but only on Sunday. If you arrive early you have to arrange your own transfer to the accommodation.

How long should you go for?

We recommend you join us for four weeks at the Bali fitness bootcamp to get the most out of your time. Many people are constrained by how much time they have off work so most people go for two weeks. You can get a 30 day Visa for Bali fairly easily, if you wish to stay up to 8 weeks you will need to extend your Visa.

If you are looking to go really long-term and see drastic improvements, we recommend splitting your time between here and our Thailand fitness bootcamp, or focusing on the Thailand fitness bootcamp due to the ease of securing longer-term visas.

The main benefit you will take home is the knowledge gained of how to maintain and improve your fitness back home along with a solid foundation or fitness.

Of course, you also have had a fantastic holiday in Bali as well and it is not that often you can say you’ve come back from holiday feeling better than when you left!

Short-term guests will receive an amazing kick start to their health and fitness routine. Many who travel with us use this as a kick start to their travels as well, after all, if you are hitting the beaches in Bali, you want to look and feel good!

Visas

The maximum amount of time you can join is eight weeks. We are limited by the Visa limitations, you are able in most cases to get a 30 day Visa on arrival and extend this to 60. Please note this advice is subject to change so you should do your own research into visas as well.

Flights

Flights are not included, and please do not book your flights before booking with us as we do need to reserve your spot, and make sure there is availability. Submit your booking form and we will come back to you within 24 hours to confirm. Once we have issued you your confirmation invoice you are then good to book your flights to Denpasar, Bali.

Travelling alone

Most people who attend the camp, are independent travelers and arrive at the camp on their own. If you are concerned about traveling solo, don’t be. There is such a social atmosphere at the camp, and it is a really supportive environment that everyone gets to know each other very quickly. Serious physical exercise in a group can be quite a bonding experience we assure you! So really it does not take long for people to get to know one another. 90 percent of people joining the boot camp travel solo.

Frequently Asked Questions

The camp is located in Jimbaran right by the beach. This is located on a massive Bay with a white sandy beach, 15 minutes from the airport. It’s away from the typically touristy areas and a little bit quieter which is more conducive to fitness training and relaxation. Yet at the same time, it is easily accessible to some of the hotspots and more lively areas. 

You will need to fly into Bali Denpasar International Airport. After booking, you are asked to provide your flight details and we will meet you in arrivals outside of the airport. We will then transfer you to your accommodation by taxi. 

Early arrival is fine and we can recommend a few great options for accommodation. Please note that if you are not arriving on your start day, airport collection is not included, but a taxi from the airport to a nearby hotel is usually about 10GBP

Return airport transfer can be arranged with the reception of the resort. The cost will be around £10. 

Please bring suitable training gear such as trainers, a couple of pairs of shorts, sports bras for the girls, and training tops. We advise bringing a towel as well to take to the gym and also a beach towel. Please bring a padlock for your locker. 

This depends on your own spending choices, but as 2 meals (breakfast and lunch) are  covered per day you will not need to bring much. Meals are not included on Sundays.

You only need to cover one meal a day,  your external excursions and activities. Bali is very good value, but you will want to budget spending money to go on a couple of tours, and the transportation to take you to other areas of the island. We would recommend £100 £150 per week. 

You can bring supplements with you please make sure these are clearly labelled, but you can also buy them locally at the camp. 

We have a Halal lunch menu at the moment of writing they are: Vegetable Curry, hearty Lamb Moussaka, Thai Green Curry, Chili Con Carne, Salmon Ratatouille, Cauliflower & Chicken Soup, Broccoli & Zucchini Soup. 

Yes Everything is gluten free, dairy free, and wheat free except for 1 dish: Lamb Moustaka. However, this dish only has a minor amount as well.

Scooters are widely available for hire, however, we do not recommend people hire them. Traffic conditions are crazy in Bali, and it is not uncommon for people to have very serious accidents on scooters. We will take no responsibility for any accidents or damage that occurs from clients renting scooters. Taxis are cheap and easy to arrange so we would advise that. All of the resorts are within walking distance of the training area. 

Are widely accepted. The nearest ATM is approx 200 meters from the Villa. 

Plenty. Beaches, incredible beach clubs, amazing viewpoints, waterfalls, rice fields and lookouts. There are a range of tours you can do, like visiting monkey temples, rice paddies and Hindu temples. 

Yes! 90% of our clients join the boot camp on their own. In fact far from this being a problem, we would encourage people to do so. It’s a very social environment at the camp and you will make friends very quickly. 

Typically we provide a 12 1/2% discount based on two people sharing deluxe accommodation. There is no discount for the shared villa. 

Probably 70% female30% male. Both sexes will have different goals and motivations about booking the camp as well. With women, usually it’s about toning up, weight loss and body confidence.

With men, it’s more about strength and conditioning training but not exclusively. Really  there are people who join for all reasons. The important thing to consider is everyone is catered for at the Boot Camp, and people’s goals might change throughout your stay. 

Vegetarian also have limited options for the meal plan, and a limited Vegan (2 options for Vegans)

The beach is about 1 minute from the camp. 

High season is the dry season. Between April and September Bali is typically busier than usual. While temperatures are pretty constant all year round, it’s rainfall that can make the difference between the months.

The rainy season, which usually falls between December and Jan you can expect downpours happening mainly at night. It doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to be constantly raining all the time, you can have some heavy rains, and then it is sunny again. It’s also cooler to train during the rainy season. Can be more humid, however, the training facility is air-conditioned and the rooms are also airconditioned at night time. The boot camp runs all year, come rain or shine anyway. 

Due to the nature of the Boot Camp, we are often asked “what kind of results will I see”. This is actually an impossible question to answer because everyone is different. People have different metabolisms, and ultimately it is down to how hard you work, and how long you stay for. We are confident you will definitely see an improvement, even if you go short-term you will be set on the right path, and given a good foundation to continue your training back home. You will learn all of the tools and techniques you need in order to continue to improve. 

You do not have to attend classes. No one will make you get out of bed to come training. But you will find it’s very addictive, and most clients have no issue making it to class.

On average people train 2 to 3 hours per day. You have a good mix between group cross fit training sessions, and individual personal training sessions. When you are not training you also can join stand up paddle too (local payment)! 

Yes, people can book extra additional personal training sessions locally. 1 is included per week as standard, and this is usually enough for most people considering all the group training involved as well. 

Wifi is available in the Fitness Villa, and yes the Deluxe hotel accommodation has free wifi too. Occassionally there are power outages that may effect coverage temporarily.

Yes absolutely, we have a range of really exciting trips in Bali which you can easily bolt onto the beginning or end of this programme. For example, our Bali backpacker experience, will give you a good overview of the island and even take you to the Gili Islands. Alternatively, we have some surf trips which you can easily add on at the end of this programme. 

Unfortunately, due to limited availability in the villa it is not possible to upgrade from shared villa to to deluxe after booking if you are travelling with in 12 weeks. 

At peak times you might have a max of 3 other room mates. Usually this is less and we manage room allocation to keep the number of room mates to a minimum. Due to us managing bookings in advance it is not possible to move beds or rooms without prior agreement from reservations. If you do not feel comfortable sharing we offer the deluxe option with your own private room in a luxury hotel.

Bali is a deeply spiritual island and there are plenty of national holidays and local ceremonies which can affect training schedules. The main ceremony happening once per year is Neypi when the whole island goes on lockdown for 2 days. Please note, no businesses are allowed to operate during this time, so we lay on additional training sessions, and arrange other activities to compensate. If your training period does coincide with a national holiday, though, it can be a great way to experience the local culture. The festivals and events, in general, tend to be quite fun, and it’s a great way to learn more about Balinese culture and get involved with the locals.

The Surf Instructor Course

Over the course of 8 or 12 action-packed weeks in Bali’s surf capital, you’ll take the ISA surf instructor course and the SLS lifeguarding course, and ride some of the best waves available every day.

 

What will my time in Indonesia Look like?

On average you can expect the following during your stay with us. You will be out surfing 6 times a week from dusk till dawn, twice a day. 2 times a week you will train with a personal trainer to assure you will be at the right level of fitness to pass your assessment.

Every Sunday we have a ‘restday’ on these days you’re free to do whatever you want,
maybe even more surfing! But we make sure that every other week we provide a
nice excursion so you can really soak up some of Indonesian finest scenery and get
you to experience that real Bali feeling.

During your stay here we want to make sure you become a well-rounded surfer
as this is a very important aspect of being a great surfer and instructor. To assure
this we make use of the amazing waves Indonesia has on offer. We will take you
on several trips to the famous G-land and trips to Lombok. But Bali itself has many
famous and infamous breaks that you will be surfing as well. One of the best ways
to learn surfing is not only by doing it as much as possible but also seeing yourself
surf to be able to understand potential mistakes you’re making. So during
your training, you will be filmed and photographed a lot so we can work on
your personal development.

Accommodation

Our boutique-style surf villas with 2 plunge pools offer high standard bedrooms with A/C & private bathrooms, you will share with max. 2 other surfers. The two villas are connected as one property. The Villas are located in Canggu and you can reach within 5 minutes three surf breaks. Next to the pool area there is an open kitchen/bar where you can hang out after your surf
session and share your Bali adventures.

There are several terrific communal areas, and one of the best positioned yoga studios out there with views over the surrounding greenery.

Meals

Only breakfast is included throughout the programme. But you can get a nice (and cheap) meal on every corner of every street. Meals are about 3 to 8 GBP per meal.

Breakfast is a choice of:

  • Pancakes with palm sugar syrup, bacon & fruits
  • Eggs scrambled, fried or omelette (with bacon and/or grilled veggies if you like)
  • Exotic fruit salad with yoghurt & granola
  • Local, Nasi or Mie Goreng with egg

The Indonesian currency is the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR). 1 euro is approximately 15.000 Rupiah.

The safest way to travel in Bali is by taxi.  Scooter is the main transport and fastest way to get around. Walking is possible but not very ideal. Experience is required for driving a scooter, and we do not recommend it as its dsuper busy and dangerous.

Yes you can. We offer insurance for just 25 euro a week that covers any damage or loss to our equipment (surfboards & leashes) while surfing.

Bali is a developed island. It is not necessary to take Rupiah from your home country. There are plenty of ATM`s around. In the airport you will definitely find 2 or 3 ATM`s.  A good starting amount is: 1 Million Rupiah that is equal to about 65 euro.

Don`t forget to take out your card from the ATM. The ATM provides money first then usually it will ask for another transaction before it will return your card.

Bali surfing conditions are excellent all year round! One of the best surfing locations in the world and offers year round the best surf you will find on the planet. If we have to give an indication when the swell is absolutely world class, then it is during the dry-season months: May till late October. Basically for all levels of surfer Bali is good all year round.

The weather in Bali is very consistent temperature wise and offers a lot of beach time. It is day and night warm with temperatures always above 23C – 26C during the night and day above 26C to 32C. Bali knows two seasons: Dry-Season and Wet-Season. Dry-Season: May till October and Wet-Season: November till April. Wet season is the hottest time of the year as well and is still good for Holidays. The rain will feel like an outdoor lukewarm shower. It hardly rains all day and the rain starts usually early in the morning and late in the afternoon. During the day it is mostly hot and sunny. Also in wet-season there are weeks that there is hardly any rain at all. So Bali offers year-round good weather conditions with a very very nice temperature throughout the year.

Dengue fever is one of the most common mosquito-borne diseases in Indonesia. These mosquitoes commonly breed in warm, humid weather and in stagnant water. Unlike most mosquitoes, dengue-causing mosquitoes bite during the day. Dengue infection along with other acute viral illness pose similar features: fever, bone and joint pain with or without skin rash. There is no vaccine for Dengue fever and there is no cure either. Dengue Fever can be prevented with precautions such as mosquito nets at bedtime and mosquito repellents.

This is just an advice, please consult your Doctor at home. The recommended vaccines for travelling to Indonesia based on the Centers for Disease Control are: Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Japanese Encephalitis, Typhoid, Rabies, Tetanus, and Yellow Fever (only if you come from a Yellow Fever region). Ideally, you should get the vaccinations 4-6 weeks before travel, as some vaccinations require multiple doses and an immune reaction time.

The one unifying goal of people attending the camp to get fit or fitter and have a great time in a beautiful location doing something healthy. It combines ultra luxurious accommodation with world-class fitness training at incredible prices.

Arrival day Sunday: You will be met at the airport and taken to your accommodation by a Xtreme Gap representative. Settle in relax after a long flight and sleep well. The next day walk to the fitness boot camp located close by where you will have your introduction session.

You make your way to the reception of the training camp, and our rep will introduce you to the trainers, give you a training schedule and give you your vouchers for the meal plan (2 meals a day Monday to Saturday). The meal plan starts on the day of the introduction. You just need to go there in your training gear, shorts, sneakers, t-shirt and a towel and water. This is a holiday as much as a bootcamp. The training can take it out of you, so to relax after a hard session you stay in a super luxurious resort. Set in a peaceful Thai tropical garden, with two beautiful pools, and your own boutique villa style room all ensuite (or a suite if you choose Deluxe or Luxury), you have the perfect blend of healthy fitness workouts and complete relaxation at the end of the day. The location is superb, in Phuket, towards the south centre of the island the camp is located away from the touristic mess of Phuket’s livelier locations. Situated on a quiet road, under the watchful gaze of Phuket’s most famous landmark the Big Buddha there are lots of nice little restaurants, spas and restaurants to enjoy.

The Training

It is the training that sets up camp apart, not just the quantity but also the quality of the workouts really get results. With an impressive roster of trainers, we are constantly improving our fitness routines incorporating the latest methods and techniques.

On average there can be 50-100 people training at the camp, from all over the world and it is not unusual to be working out with professional athletes and fitness professionals. As well as clients who are on holiday and want to get in shape, as well as people of poor fitness levels who want to learn how to improve their physique. With so many people coming and training the camp, naturally, the latest fitness techniques are incorporated and developed in the training programmes. With just one month spent training at the Xtreme Gap Fitness Boot Camp, we can confidently state that you can develop so much further than six months with a personal trainer back home. Fitness results are really delivered.

Personal Training Session and Group Sessions.

Xtreme Gap Year BootcampOnce per week you will have a mentor session with a professional personal trainer,  and is well placed to advise nutrition, techniques and give you a roadmap during your stay to get the most out of your workouts.

As well as the personal training session, there are group training sessions, Monday to Saturday, with Gym access available seven days a week (But mostly Sunday is taken off for a well-deserved rest).

While there is plenty of training activities included, perhaps even more than most can handle, there is the option to book extra personal training sessions locally (Approx £45 per session), and you can even try other fitness activities like Muay Thai training (2 sessions a week are already included).

So what’s the catch? Well, nothing really, except you have to arrange your own flight to Thailand, you fly to Phuket which is very well connected internationally or via Bangkok and you need to make the effort in training of course! Just book early online and we will get you all prepared for your trip.

Fitness Bootcamp Beach Training Excursions.

Every Saturday the whole crew hit one of the beautiful beaches and do an early workout. The perfect way to round of the week of intense training and enjoy paradise. Here is where we like to show our guest just exactly what makes this island such a beautiful place to train. Not only do we offer great beach training classes but we also like to make sure you know all the best places for your daily runs, hikes and general relaxation.

The Beach Boot Camp days are legendary, and they are probably the toughest training sessions throughout the week. The reward is you get to jump in the crystal clear sea after a one-hour session!

Our client feedback consistently mentions how surprised they have been at their progress and improvement on these two fitness excursions days. You will be surprised by what you are capable of.

Everything Is Made Easy.

After booking, we will set you up with an online buddy list so you can chat to other people going to the camp, or people already training at the camp before you even set off.

We are of course here to answer all your questions before you go and before booking, but after booking, we also include a very detailed predeparture pack for you to familiarise yourself with the trip before you go, and we will help you every step of the way making your travel arrangements as simple as possible.

Easy Arrival.

Thailand fitness bootcampOn arrival in Phuket, we will pick you up at the airport and transfer you to your resort. As most of our guest travel solo, this really makes it easy when you arrive in Thailand for the first time. We recommend a Sunday arrival although we can be flexible (request trip notes for further details on the accommodation).

The Training Buddy List

Prior to arrival, you will have access to a facebook group of fellow bootcampers, so you will already know people at the camp and people arriving the same time as you. Makes integration even easier. It’s super supportive and a nice way to start. One of the best things about the camp is the atmosphere, most travel with us solo, so there is a very welcoming and social side to the camp.

Full Intro On Day One

On the first day of your training, our Xtreme Gap rep will give you a full introduction, introduce you to the trainers, show you around the camp and help you meet other Xtreme Gappers, and also talk you through the meal plan and training timetable (more on that below).

The rep is your first point of contact should you have any issues in Thailand. Perhaps you just want to know where to go to get your laundry done, where to have a good spa treatment or get the inside information on which restaurant has the best Thai red curry in town, all you have to do is ask. Everything is made really easy for you, allowing you to just focus on having a great time, getting fit and having a great holiday.

Also on the first training day (Monday) there is an afternoon nutrition seminar. We gladly go over your goals and help you with your meal plan.

How long should you go for?

Most people go for 2 to 6 weeks, due to time constraints with work, and two weeks is enough to start to see some good results. The main benefit you will take home the knowledge of how to maintain and improve your fitness back home along with a solid foundation or fitness.

Of course, you also have had an amazing holiday in Thailand as well, and it is not that often you can say you’ve come back from holiday feeling better than when you left!

Short-term guests will receive an amazing kick start to their health and fitness routine.

Many who travel with us use this as a kick-start to their travels as well, after all, if you are hitting the beaches in Thailand, you want to look and feel good!

Why Not Just Head To Thailand And Join A Gym?

Simply put: you won’t get the same experience. Due to our large groups, and the fact most people join on their own, it’s a very welcoming supportive environment which you would not get in the same way in other gyms. With our programme you get to know everyone, you hang out with them, you socialise with them and train together.

It’s work hard play hard. Just joining a normal gym you go there you workout, you go back to your hotel you don’t really meet everyone. It’s about the entire experience as well as the training.

Accommodation Options.

Luxurious Villas: Boutique & Deluxe

Don ´t hold back and spoil yourself!  Located in walking distance to the Thailand Fitness Bootcamp we have a stunning 4* resort. Set in a beautiful landscaped Thai gardens, you will find the uttermost peace and tranquillity, with two pools – (the pools are heaven after a training session), a restaurant and high-quality service.

  • The resort  (called the retreat) is 8 minutes walk to the training camp. There is a free shuttle service laid on to the training facility.

The Boutique Villas

Each private boutique villa comes with a large bed, air conditioning, flat screen TV/cable, DVD, WiFi internet, hot water en-suite shower and your own little outside veranda. The perfect place to relax after your day training, the outside communal lounge spaces are accompanied by easy sounds of fountains and birdsong surrounded by tropical plants. Heaven.

The Deluxe  Boutique Villas

The resort has upgraded rooms available. These have a separate living and kitchenette. Consider this a suite. This accommodation option is perfect if you wish to work while you are training at the boot camp. There are a desk and a living area that could be perfect office terrain. The room has air conditioning, private bathroom, fridge, microwave, lounge area with a sofa, wifi and cable tv.

Also ideal if you want to share accommodation. Maximum 2 people. Special prices apply for sharing accommodation. Please e-mail us for information. Please note the camp is not located right on the beach, although the beaches are accessible by taxi or bike.

Standard Accommodation Option

If your budget doesn’t stretch to the luxury options, go for the standard ensuite accommodation. Set in another resort, you have a clean comfortable room with air conditioning, private bathroom, fridge, desk, wifi, cable tv. This modern resort hotel has free high-speed internet, a nice pool and clean and comfy ensuite rooms.

Lean Option

If your budget is really tight, and you do not mind sharing your room,  you want to take advantage of one of the best value packages then consider the lean option.

This is a super trim version of the Bootcamp, which still provides all the training essentials, but no meals, PTs or excursions.

You get fun group training sessions, amazing trainers, gym access, airport pickup and our budget-friendly shared mini-dorm accommodation. The accommodation is very conveniently located next door to the training camp. We offer a six-bed ensuite female only dorm, and four-bed ensuite mixed dorm. Each dorm has an ensuite toilet and shower facilities. You are still able to access the pool at the standard resort located right next door to the training camp.

Please note: Check the inclusions section details what is excluded with the lean option. Meals, personal training sessions, excursions, Muay Thai sessions, Nutrition seminar and training top, are not included with the lean option but it can be purchased locally. You do get the essential group training, gym access, access to the buddy list, and accommodation.

Early Morning

If you wish, you can start with a good stretch in the morning by joining the Yoga class for an hour before the ‘real’ work begins.

Boot Camp

The boot camp training consists of 6 days a week Mon-Sat high cardio (fat burning) in the morning, using highly advanced techniques (request trip notes for further details and videos about this). These classes vary from Strenght & Conditioning, Crosstraining, Bodyfit, Spinning and Boxercise. They are designed to increase your fitness fast and efficiently. The groups typically have people training with a moderate physical condition and peak physical condition; this works well as the exercises are modified depending on your fitness levels and ability, so no one is left behind. The indoor gym is open on Sundays for those who want to train on the day off.

Open Matt Sessions

The whole camp is at your disposal to do your own workout. Use all the equipment the camp offers like battle ropes, assault course, med ball, torsonater, Olympic weightlifting bars with plates you can drop and a bunch of free weights so you can do your WOD (Workout of the Day) by yourself or team up with some of the other xtreme gappers.

Olympic Weightlifting

The sport of Olympic Weightlifting involves participants completing two separate lifts; the snatch and the clean and jerk. In Olympic Weightlifting class you will learn how to perform these two lifts. Performing this type of exercises will help with increasing power, speed, flexibility and strength.

The class is recommended for those who have little or no experience with these lifts. Coaches will put a heavy emphasis on obtaining proper form and execution of these lifts before you start to really increase the weight used in these exercises.

Don’t let the term Olympic weightlifting put you off, this is a multi-purpose workout that will improve your whole body and the way it performs. Once perfected it will make other exercise much easier. Olympic Weightlifting also has a major Neurological benefit.

 S&C (strength and conditioning)

Strength and Conditioning at our bootcamp is more than just your average fitness class! You will learn the exercise techniques that will lay the foundation for future training and transform your athletic ability and the way to push yourself hard beyond your limits. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced athlete: this training system will develop power, endurance, speed, agility, core strength. It will enable you to become more flexible. Not only will you perform better and remain injury free, but resistance training is also scientifically proven to promote weight loss.

Strength and Conditioning sessions run Mon-Fri afternoons at 5pm so that you can make the most of the weather here and chill a bit by the pool in the afternoon. This is a very good time to train as the heat drops, and the wind picks up to cool the sweat off your body, this helps to keep you motivated while training.

To keep our Strength and Conditioning sessions interesting, we constantly vary the format and emphasize a range of resistance exercise techniques and equipment to ensure no session is ever repeated exactly. Class intensity will be high, with all exercises demonstrated by our expert coaches to ensure correct posture and form so that you get the best results.

Beach training

Not only do we offer great beach training classes but we also like to make sure you know all the best places for your daily runs, hikes and general relaxation.

However, when coming to such a tropical place you can’t miss out on the great beach training programme we have for you. The unique environment offers us an opportunity to run through some imaginative routines which take advantage of both the sun and the sea to ensure you get the best beach training to remember.

Mobility, recovery and Stretching

Two days a week we focus on recovery of the different musscle groups.

Shoulders: for strength, stability, and mobility of the rotator cuff along with the development of the supportive muscle groups for correcting imbalances of the anterior and posterior.

Core: for total spine support through strengthening and stabilizing the deep and external major core muscle groups along with spine mobility.

Hips: mobility and flexibility for improved ROM (range of motion) along with the development of the hip flexor muscle groups.
All to enhance movement, posture, and performance with your sport, fitness, health and wellbeing for longevity and injury prevention with your life and training.

Boxercise

Get fit without getting hit. Train and have fun and learn boxing technique without the fear of getting hurt or getting hit in the face:) We teach basic boxing technique and keeping the pace high to maximize calorie burn and keep the pace in the fat burning zone. We use boxing gloves and pads, which we provide in class for our clients. A different and fun class that we teach two times per week, Tuesday and Thursday 4-5pm.

Assault Course Class

Want to train different, want to learn how to use your body weight strength and run through Thailand’s biggest obstacle course? Then this is the class for you. Ex-Navy Seal coach will teach this class 3 times per week. He will break down the different and most efficient way to tackle the various stations to make your time better and better each time you run the course. The record is 1.52 min so that is what we are aiming for to beat:). This class is held Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 4-5pm.

Spinning

We run spinning three times per week we have spinning class, Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 6.15pm. Tour the Thailand in one spot. We will also throw in some bodyweight exercises as well to mix it up. We are taking spinning classes to a new level, and it will be different to a normal spinning class, but we can assure you will love this!

Nutrition Seminar

Every Monday you can join our Nutrition Seminar. We discuss nutrition and how we should eat for a healthy lifestyle. We will guide you and make suggestions on what, how and when to eat so everyone is able to make their own meal plan on a generic basis.

Bodyfat Measurements

Not everyone at the camp is attending for weight loss.  So please note we do not incorporate body fat measurements using callipers as standard in the package. This is a service available locally on request for an additional small fee.

Yoga, Muay Thai Try It All

There are also options to join Yoga sessions taught by a highly qualified yoga instructor.

The Yoga sessions are first thing in the morning and are perfect to warm up your muscles and get you ready for a hard session at body fit.

Muay Thai

This is not a Muay Thai training camp; we specialise in fitness. That being said if you want to try some Muay Thai we include 2 Muay Thai sessions a week. This is a complimentary service. (about 2 GBP for gear rental per session)

Set your own pace if you need to

The gym is open full-time Monday to Sunday (No group sessions on Sunday), you can train harder if you like, or explore Phuket and hit its stunning beaches with a body to match if you don ´t slack off!

Flights.

Flights are not included, and please do not book your flights before booking with us as we do need to reserve your spot, and make sure there is availability. Submit your booking form and we will come back to you within 24 hours to confirm. Once we have issued you your confirmation invoice you are then good to book your flights into Phuket.

When should you go?

Whenever you like! It starts every Sunday. In our experience, the cheapest time to fly is between mid-April and October. This is a traditionally low season. The price of the Boot Camp remains the same throughout the year, however, this can seriously affect the price of flights. So if you are on a budget consider coming during those months.

Travelling alone is no problem it’s a very social environment.

Titan Beach-2015181_1024x683As we mentioned most people who attend the camp, are independent travellers and arrive at the camp on their own. If you are concerned about travelling solo, don’t be. There is such a social atmosphere at the camp, and it is a supportive environment that everyone gets to know each other very quickly.

We set you up on our buddy list system before you go (to chat online with other people attending the camp, and we promise you will make really good new friends, (serious physical exercise in a group can be quite a bonding experience we assure you!)

So really it does not take long for people to get to know one another.

While two meals a day are included in the meal plan, you are free to have dinner where ever you like, which tends to be very social.

People come from all over to train at our camp, so expect to meet new friends from all over the world and actually broaden your horizons and extend your connections at the same time.

The fact that most people travel there alone, also adds to the motivation factor, because everyone is there to succeed in their fitness goals, so everyone encourages and pushes each other to do more.

Location & Activities.

Thai fitness bootcampYou can expect great weather, fabulous food and exciting environment. Lots of culture and exciting day trips to be had. The training camp is about a 10 min drive from the beach, (taxis are cheap) there are temples, spas, and numerous activities like elephant trekking, diving, snorkelling, trekking and you can even head out to Phi Phi for some to die for beaches.

You can’t go to Thailand without trying a Thai massage as well, and after a few days training you might just want one! There are ample spa facilities in the vicinity of your accommodation, so it is very easy to reward yourself with a bit of pampering after all of your hard efforts with your training.

Visas.

You can enter Thailand on a 28 day Visa exemption if arriving by air, so for our clients staying just four weeks or under there is no need to arrange a Visa. If you intend to stay longer, you will need to pre-arrange a Visa, after booking we can send you all the information you need to do this, and our partners can even take care of this for you.

Booking Process.

The booking process is relatively straightforward, but please note spaces to fill up so we advise booking well ahead, last-minute bookings can occasionally be taken, but we do need at least ten days notice. Having said that we can rarely guarantee you space if you book last-minute, so please contact us if you want to make a last-minute booking.

To book all you have to do is submit your booking form, we will then check availability and send you your confirmation invoice. You can take this to the bank to pay (no charge), or pay online to a UK account, or you can pay online with PayPal (there is a 5% charge for this option).

If you are travelling within 12 weeks, you will need to pay the full amount. If you are travelling later than 12 weeks you only need to secure your place with £200 deposit, then pay the balance 12 weeks before departure giving you plenty of time to save flights and spending money.

So for only £200, you can make a commitment to yourself to get fit and healthy, tone up and feel incredible you just need to submit your booking form. Don’t think too long about it, as spaces to fill up so get it in early.

Trip Frequently Asked Questions.

People come to the camp with lots of different personal fitness goals, men and women, super athletes and people seriously out of shape! While most people that join are of average fitness, none are by the time they leave, so depending on the time you have to devote to your body and personal health, the results can be impressive. Don ´t be surprised to find professional body builders rubbing shoulders with Pro athletes and people wanting to lose weight in a supportive training environment.
The average age of the participants is between 20 and 35, but there are quite some over 35 that train at the camp. There could be staying up to 100 people at the camp, so you will find like minded people for sure.

Lean Option

For those on a tight budget yet still wanting to join the Thailand fitness bootcamp, we have the lean option. Overall it’s a superfit trimmed version of the standard package where you stay in a four or six bed dorm and have all of the group training access available in the standard option.

There is a saving of approximately 30% on the standard price. This means you would have to buy your own meals (easily done in the nearby cafes and restaurants near the Boot Camp) and add on personal training sessions and mid-size sessions plus external excursions should you want them but this can all be easily done in the resort.

Pool Access.

Clients on the lean package also have access to the swimming pool in the standard resort this is approximately 60 m away from the accommodation so you still have a great place to cool off after training.

What’s included in the new Lean package:

So what do you miss out on if you book the lean package over standard?

The following is not included in the lean package but is available in the standard package

  • Nutrition seminar, standard and deluxe clients receive help creating the best meal plan for their stay.
  • Weekly personal training session one-to-one.
  • Excursions: access to beachfront runs workout sessions with transport.
  • Excursions: access to big Buddha run with transport.
  • Option to join the Thai classes two times a week
People join for 1 to 12 weeks. Some even stay up to 6 months! But even if you just have 10 days you are more then welcome to join and will notice the difference in your shape. Please note this is not your typical gap year programme, it can be undertaken by all, even on a short break to Thailand.

As a general rule everyone is different, but it depends on as much as the effort you put in when training, the techniques you use when training and the fuel you are putting in your body when you are training. The Fitness boot camp teaches you all these things and sets you on the right path to peak physical fitness.

Technique

One of the benefits of the camp is that you will be taught the proper techniques and exercises by experts (you would be amazed by how many people who do attend a gym, do an incorrect work out that is not effective and waste a lot of their time and energy, when these inefficient workout routines can be easily corrected with a little education). This is great because you will be able to take this home with you to continue once you are back from your trip.

Effort

Secondly, as there are lots of others training at the camp with the same fitness goals you will find that you end up pushing your efforts harder to reach your fitness goals. Why? Because everyone is there to support you, and it is a very encouraging atmosphere. The gym is always on your doorstep, and you are there to train, so there really is no excuse, especially when you have paid to attend the camp. There is no slacking off!

Fuel

Third, the meal plan is designed to help with weightloss and muscle mass gain. Lots of healthy, protein-rich and delicious food, of the Thai and Western variety.

It is incredibly easy to eat healthily here and we will cater to your nutritional requirements. You won’t see any processed foods here; it’s all freshly cooked and they use the best quality ingredients, it´s lean, clean and delicious. During your consultation, we will discuss and recommend the ideal nutrition plan to run alongside your training. In the programme, 2 meals per day Mon-Sat are included.

So how long is the ideal time to go for? Hard to say, we would suggest people start seeing results in as little as the first week, but real visible results come after about 2-3 weeks of continuous training. Some people go for months and really make a dramatic transformation.

Tailored nutritional advice can be provided by personal trainers during your one to one with a lot of experience in providing the correct diet matching to your personal fitness goals. This is backed up by a specially designed healthy eating menu. If you need a more tailored personal nutrition plan, we are also able to provide one for you at extra cost. This will involve measuring your body fat and optimising your calorie intake to complement your training. Please ask us prior to booking additional nutrition options.

The gym at the Thailand Fitness Bootcamp is brand-new for 2016. Includes all you need to work on strength and conditioning training: hammer strength benches, curl bench and bar, incline, squat rack, sit-up benches, 3 racks of dumbbells, stationary bikes, Nautilus machine with pull down, seated row, leg press, and 4 full sets of kettlebells which are highly regarded for hardcore weightlifting workouts and plenty of plate weights to accommodate several weight-lifters at the same time. You have Unlimited access to the gym and there are always fitness trainers are able to advise you and guide you throughout your workouts.

 

At the training camp you are a 40 minutes taxi ride away from Phuket town and 40 minutes from the airport.

Phuket has a tropical monsoon climate. It is warm all year round, but the two periods of April-May and September-October are the hot months. The September-October period is also the wet. The best time to visit Phuket is during the cool monsoon season, from November through March. Then it isn’t so humid, and the cool breezes keep it comfortable. The average temperature is around 75F to 89F (24C to 32C).

The Thai new year is celebrated on the 13 and 14th of April! it’s an amazing event, waterfest!

We have classes at 11.00 and 19.00 (times can change) for the customers who do want to get in a bit of training. The missed out meals will be served before and after Songkran.

The beaches are about 6km from the camp. The best way to get there is by bike, scooter or taxi. There are always more people going on the weekends, so you can join each other. In the neighbourhood there are pools, and if you stay at our luxury resort you can chill by one of the two pools it offers!

Vegetarian and Vegan´s also have options at the restaurant. Not all the fun has been taken out of the menu, you can still get French fries made with unpeeled potatoes! Also included at the Restaurant for extra costs is our protein and fruit shake bar offering a wide variety of Fruit and protein shakes and a selection of drinks to keep our guests maintaining a high amount of protein in their diet to help build muscle and lose fat.

If you are thinking it might be a little intimidating arriving at a fitness boot camp, you will be pleasantly surprised. There is a great supportive atmosphere, where everyone has a similar goal, to benefit from improving their fitness and well-being. Also you will have a serious introduction by our representative who will help you settle in and introduce you to the trainers and team at the fitness camp. He will explain you about all different training sessions and the meal plan (also included!). There can be up to 100 people at the camp so do not worry about being arriving on your own!

The camp is quite remote and there are no tourist bars and big supermarkets in the neighbourhood. Also, everyone you meet will be training and will be working on their health and fitness, so it is not hard not to go out, as everyone is focussed on getting fit! Also, we include a meal plan. These 2 meals a day are very fresh and healthy and we also include water and fruit. The other meals you can order at our restaurant or you can eat out in one of the restaurants down the road, they all have a healthy menu!

If you are planning on travelling to Thailand for 30 days or less and you have British, Dutch & Nordic or USA passport you can get a Visa exemption on arrival. This is valid for 30 days and can be extended in Thailand on Phuket for 30 days more. The cost will be around 1900 THB. Or (easier and more organised) if you are planning on being in Thailand longer than 30 days you will need to pre-arrange a Visa. You can prearrange a visa for 60 days which you can extend to 90 days in Thailand.

There are two ways of arranging your visa. When you are from the UK. You can either go in person to the Thai embassy in London, or you can post your passport along with the necessary documentation and fee to one of the Thai Consulates. In general, this works the same for the other countries like The Netherlands and United States too, but please contact the nearest Thai Consulate for visa inquiries.

Please note that you are responsible for arranging your own visa. Xtreme Gap cannot be held responsible if you fail to travel with the correct visa. Training to become a Divemaster anywhere is a fantastic way to spend several months abroad. There are few other travel activities that can provide you with this much adventure and fun and of course the excitement of being underwater in a completely different world totally different to everything you are used to. On this course, it is particularly special because it is located in the Caribbean, on the world’s second-largest barrier Reef, with some superb dive sites so you will really enjoy your days diving in crystal clear seas.

Utila, the smallest of the smallest islands off the coast of Honduras in the Bay Islands has it all! On the island of Utila, which borders on the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef system, (the 2nd largest reef in the world after the Australian Great Barrier Reef) you will discover some of the most beautiful beaches, coral reefs, and tropical island sunsets in the world. With over 100 different dive sites to choose from, including caves and wrecks (such as the famous Halliburton), here scuba diving is always interesting and never crowded.

The reef system is home to more than 65 species of stony coral, 350 species of mollusc and more than 500 species of fish. Also, it is known as the “Whale Shark Capital of the Caribbean” and is a famous location for Whale Shark encounters, year round.

And it’s not just the diving! You will be living the life on a tropical island in off the coast of Honduras in the Bay Islands. Divemaster internship Honduras (14)There is no set itinerary during a Divemaster course, each day is different with different dive sites and different things to learn depending on which stage of your Divemaster internship you are at. Typically a day would involve waking up bright and early, pack equipment jumping on the boat and then going for a spectacular dive before breakfast, some days you will be shadowing instructors, other days taking clients the dive is leading them through the dive sites and giving them their pre-dive safety briefings, and of course there is some theory and study about the safety of diving and everything you need to learn to become a Divemaster.

Students with no dive experience. 7-week programme

No diving experience necessary but we suggest that you have at least tried diving in a pool or have done a Discover Scuba Diving course to see that you enjoy the experience. We would take you through Open Water, Advanced, Rescue, First Aid and Divemaster.

Dive and Learn Every Day

Divemaster internship Honduras (21)During your Divemaster training, you will be able to dive and learn every day. You will discover a mix of hard and soft corals and abundant marine life from sharks to turtles and thousands of fish. The sites vary in depth from just a few meters down to 40 meters, there is little current and the water temperature is always warm, ranging from about 27 Celcius to 32 Celcius offering amazing conditions to dive every day of your Divemaster course abroad!

 

 

Personal attention and superb dive training

You will never be alone unless you want to. We work together with small and very professional dive school and who are able to give you a lot of

personal attention and training. You will be part of the crew once you have done your open water, advanced open water and rescue diving certificates as you then start the Divemaster internship.

From that moment on you will be assisting at dives and following your own personal instructor teaching you all you need to know as a Divemaster. You will meet divers from all over the world, some staying long term just like you and some just diving for a few weeks.

Accommodation

Your home away from home will be in a shared apartment 5-10 minute walk from our Divecentre. You will share with other students, which makes it super social.

Accommodation is including wifi, cable tv, hot water, AC and weekly cleaning. Electricity is charged extra.

Usually, after a day of diving, you meet up for a drink and chat with the staff, other divemaster students and dive customers that you might have been guiding underwater.

The diving on UtilA is some of the best found on the planet, with over 40 dive sites, wreck dives, lots of marine life (including dolphins!), walls and shore dives. Why you should become a Divemaster and train in the Caribbean:

  • If you would like to be around like-minded people who want to broaden their horizon and have FUN

  • If you want to learn more and become a Dive instructor, you have to start with your Divemaster, and Utila is a great place to do it.
You need to be a confident swimmer and at least 18 years old. Furthermore, you have pass the check for the health requirements before arriving to make sure that you are OK to dive.
Officially you need 40 logged dives to start the DM course and 60 to get certified. As soon as you get here we will get you diving and once we know you are comfortable in the water you can start helping out on dives, staying shallower with less experienced divers, while the instructor goes deeper but within sight, or staying with divers who use a lot of air so you can take them up when they get low on air. If you are not studying or completing assignments you will be diving, probably 1 or 2 dives a day.
All diving equipment is included for ow, aow, rescue and EFR, but when you start your Divemaster we provide use of BCD/regulator/weights/tanks but expect Divemaster candidates to have their own mask/snorkel, fins, dive computer, SMB, wetsuit, dive light. We can offer a special rate for this.
You can do the Utila Dive Master Course all year round. March through to November is the dry season, but even in the rainy season, you can come as we do not get much rain. You can expect busy times during Christmas and cheap flights in November.

For the course we quite often have 2 or 3 Divemaster trainees at the same time. If not, there are always other divers at the location. They are also very into diving and you will have lots of fun with them!

We suggest that you have at least $200 – $300 spending money a week for food, drink and personal expenses. Meals out are $5 – $30 depending on the restaurants. If you buy food and cook you can obviously live more cheaply.

DAY 1
ARRIVE IN BALI

We will be at Denpasar airport to meet you when you arrive. You have the day to relax by our rooftop pool or explore the local beaches before we meet in the evening for a welcome BBQ to meet the rest of your group.

DAY 2
TANAH LOT & ROYAL TEMPLE

Our awesome local guides take us to visit two of Bali’s most beautiful temples today – Tanah Lot and the Royal Temple of Tamun Ayun. These temples are steeped in history and are a big part of the Balinese way of life. In the evening we catch the sunset from the local beach before dinner and a night on the town in one of Canggu’s awesome bars.

DAY 3
SURF’S UP!

Surfs up on day 3! We head to Kuta Beach to get a learn how to catch a wave with our awesome local instructors. Never surfed before, no worries, everyone can join. In the afternoon there’s time to shop in Kuta’s markets and then chill out and catch another awesome sunset at our rooftop pool.

DAY 4
UBUD & WATERFALLS

It’s time to pack our bags as we move to the town of Ubud. Ubus is an amazing town amongst rice fields and there is lots to do here. En route we make a stop at a beautiful waterfall to cool off before arriving at our awesome hotel. You will have the chance to freshen up before we head out to visit one of Bali’s most famous live music venues for an evening of singing and dancing.

DAY 5
COOKING CLASS & MONKEY FOREST

In the morning we go shopping for ingredients with a local family before they teach us how to cook some of Bali’s best dishes in their home cooking school. The afternoon we meet the famous locals of Ubud in the Monkey forest – The hundreds of monkeys present are believed to protect the temple within and it’s the perfect time to get up close and personal with these amazing creatures.

DAY 6
LOCAL MARKETS & RICE TERRACES

Have a chilled morning by the pool or explore Ubud’s fantastic (art) markets for souvenirs before we head for lunch with stunning views overlooking an active volcano. We spend the afternoon wandering the stunning rice terraces which are still used to farm rice for sale all over the world.

DAY 7
HEAD TO THE GILI ISLANDS

It’s time to catch a ferry and head over to the picture perfect  Gili Islands – We get to our base in Gili Trawangan around midday and will have a free afternoon to explore the island or catch some rays by our pool. We then head out to watch the sunset as well as grab some pictures on the well known Gili T swings.

DAY 8
ISLAND HOPPING ADVENTURE

We spend the day island hopping around the magical Gili Islands. You will get to snorkel incredible reefs, shipwrecks and underwater temples before taking a pit-stop on Gili Air for lunch. In the afternoon we head round to Turtle point where you are almost certain to swim with these local legends and enjoy some up close and personal time before heading back to Gili T.

DAY 9
BIKE RIDE AROUND GILI TRAWANGAN

As there are no motorized vehicles on the Gili islands we hop on our push bikes to do a round trip of the island – Stopping off at viewpoints and secluded beaches. We then head out in the evening for a party at the local beach bars. They know how to party here!

DAY 10
HEAD TO LOMBOK

We finally say goodbye to the infamous Gili Islands and hop across to Lombok Island for the next part of your adventure. After a short, but beautiful ferry ride, we jump on a private bus down to Kuta Lombok on the south coast and check into our new hotel for the next 2 nights.

DAY 11
SASAK VILLAGE & WATERFALLS

Today you are in for a treat! You will get a culture fix in the morning as you visit a traditional Sasak village to learn about the cultural customs of the locals, before heading north to spend the afternoon at some of the most incredible waterfalls you will ever see at Benang Kelampu.

DAY 12
LOMBOK BEACH CRAWL

Spend the day beach hopping across the south coast and experience the untouched beauty that Lombok has to offer. You will get to visit Mawun Beach in the morning followed by Lancing ‘Secret’ Beach and finishing off at Selong Belanak where you can chill in the shallow seas for the afternoon or hire a surfboard (optional) for those who have caught the bug.

DAY 13
TRAVEL TO SUMBAWA

Today is mainly a travel day. After breakfast, we jump on a bus and head to the northeast of Lombok and catch a ferry to the neighbouring island of Sumbawa. It will take approximately 7-8 hours to get to our beach resort but when we get there, you will have the rest of the day to relax by the pool and recharge.

DAY 14
MOYO ISLAND DAY TRIP

We catch a small boat over to the gorgeous Moyo Island where we will explore the local waterfalls and beaches this picturesque island has to offer. Our local guide will take us to the hotspots and hidden gems before we head back to our resort for sunset drinks.

DAY 15
SATONDA ISLAND

Today we set sail for the next 3 days on our liveaboard boat and head towards the Komodo Islands. Our first stop is Satonda Island. Visit an inland saltwater lake and enjoy snorkelling around the islands stunning reef. In the evening we tuck into a sunset BBQ on the boat.

DAY 16
MANTA POINT, KOMODO ISLAND, PINK BEACH & PADAR ISLAND

An action-packed day. Start by snorkelling with some Manta rays before visiting Komodo Island to spend some time with the famous Komodo Dragons. After lunch we head to Pink beach for some more snorkelling and we finish the day with a trek to the famous viewpoint on Padar Island for sunset. The perfect postcard pic!

DAY 17
KANAWA ISLAND & FLORES

Today is our last day of activities. We wake early for breakfast, sail to Kanawa Island and spend a few hours here snorkelling and taking in the lush surroundings before heading to our final destination Labuan Bajo, Flores. We should arrive around 3pm which give us time to make use of our hotel’s awesome pool before we say our final farewells over dinner.

Our accommodation is mainly in twin share accommodation in some awesome hotels. You will always be sharing a room with someone of the same sex from your group. We do sometimes stay in dorm accommodation which will be exclusive to our tour group. We use the best accommodation in each location and we have been using them for many years. Its extremely safe.

Yes, lots of people come on our trips alone, its a great way to meet new people and you will never feel alone from the moment you arrive as you will instantly be travelling with an awesome group of like-minded people.
There no age limits on our trips, however, most of our travellers are between 18 and mid 30’s. Remember you’re only as old as you feel! 
It depends on your nationality and which destination you are travelling to. For full visa information please check the Indonesian embassy website
Everyone spends differently so it’s hard for us to give an exact amount but we usually recommend around £150 – £250 per week is sufficient for you to have an epic time. All your activities, transport and accommodation is covered by us so you just need to worry about what your food, drink and shopping which is usually pretty cheap in Asia. Please note we can not be held responsible if you start popping bottles of champagne on the first night and run out of money ?

For most of our destinations, you don’t need any specific vaccinations however its always good to check with your doctor to make sure you have an up to date tetanus jab.  


Food is usually not included however we do include occasional meals on day trips. We do also head out every evening for a group dinner at some awesome our favourite spots.


Your group leader will get in touch with you a week before your trip to confirm your meeting time/flight details and to introduce themselves. 


If you have an allergy you must let us know as we will make your group leader aware. We also recommend printing out allergy cards in the local language. These cards can be easily found on google and are great to carry as they can be shown to the restaurants we eat at to explain your allergy in depth and make sure nothing gets lost in translation.

We head out every evening as a group for dinner and often drinks. We take you to some of the coolest spots around as well as some hidden gems we’ve discovered over the years. This is not part of the itinerary so you do not have to participate but we try to maximise your adventure.


We would always recommend a backpack. Suitcases are not ideal for Asia as even if your suitcase has wheels its very hard to pull it across the beach. If its your first time with a backpack, you’ll never look back after.

Bali Turtle Conservation

Everything on the island is fantastic.  The palm trees, golden sandy beaches. Stars you have probably never seen before. Most of our travellers are constantly taken aback by the fact that it’s all real and that they are really there!

This exciting program is 2 or 3-weeks  and starts off with a cultural introduction week on Bali, near Ubud followed by a stay on a tropical island. You can expect a true conservation adventure, where you get to experience true Balinese culture and make a positive impact while spending your time in Indonesia.

Itinerary Bali Turtle Conservation

This awesome 2 or 3-week Bali trip and is filled with culture, Conservation projects, and adventures in Bali!  With one week’s cultural introduction in Ubud, followed by 1 or 2 weeks on an amazing island to help with our turtle project.

Week 1: Cultural Introduction Week

Sunday

The introduction and orientation starts every Monday and you need to arrive in Bali on the Sunday before orientation, Sunday you check in and relax before the introduction and orientation on Monday.

Of course, we include a pick-up. When you arrive, you will be greeted at the airport by a member of the local team and he will make sure you get to your accommodation in lovely Ubud.

Monday

On Monday, you will have breakfast and then get an introduction to the Bali traditions and culture.

You will get to know the Balinese families in the surrounding area and learn about their culture. Also, we will take you on an amazing walking tour of the popular Monkey street is to follow and a visit to Ubud market to shop for some special Balinese gifts to take home. After the visit, you will have lunch and then join a class on introduction to Balinese culture. We will have an early dinner, followed by a traditional Balinese dance show… before ending off Day 1 of your adventure!

Tuesday

9:30 Balinese Language Class. It’s always fun to learn a few words like hello, “thank you” and “a coffee, please”. This simply adds to your cultural experience and might even help along the way.

14:00 Village Walking Tour. You will finally get to see the stunning rice terraces with your own eyes, plus walk through the arty village and surroundings of Ubud. It’s truly stunning over here.

Saturday & Sunday:

Once your cultural orientation week is over you will then be driven with our coordinator for 40 minutes to Sanur on the coast, it’s a beautiful drive. In Sanur you will hop on board a 40-minute speedboat ride to the remote and unspoiled island of Nusa Penida where the turtle conservation project is based.

Week 2 (and 3): Volunteer Week at Turtle Rehabilitation Centre

You will go over to your next stop, the turtle rehabilitation project on Nusa Penida. Nusa Penida is small, there are few people here, almost no tourists, and it’s absolutely amazing. Your accommodation is located about 10 minutes away from the harbour, and the beach is a two-minute walk away.  Volunteering will take place from Monday-Friday, with Saturday and Sunday free days. A typical volunteer week looks something like this:

Monday

On Monday, after having breakfast, you will start feeding the turtles, cleaning their tanks and collecting seaweed. Then, time will be allocated to welcome new arrivals. After that, you will have your lunch and receive a briefing and a short introduction on the beach in order to familiarize you to this new exciting setting. This will be followed by a short introduction about Nusa Penida, particularly, about the supermarket, ATM facilities, and the Nusa Penida Center. In the evening, you will be able to feed the turtles which would be an amazing experience for those who haven’t done it before.

Tuesday to Wednesday

After having breakfast on Tuesday, you will start cleaning the tanks, feeding the turtles and collecting seaweed. Then you will be given some time to prepare for lessons as you will be teaching at a local school on this day. After lunch, you will depart to the local school where you will get the opportunity to interact with local students. Finally, you would call it a day by feeding the turtles after you come back from teaching the school children.

Thursday

On Thursday, you will have your breakfast and start cleaning tanks, feeding the turtles and collecting seaweed as usual.

 

Then you will have lunch and visit an amazing location called the Crystal Bay which has a breathtaking view. Finally, you will be feeding turtles and enjoy a dinner by a Bonfire at the beach.

Friday

On Friday, after having breakfast, you will feed the turtles and get an amazing opportunity to release turtles into the sea. After having lunch, you can start cleaning up the beach in order to make sure that the beach area is safe from pollution. The final activity for the day would be feeding the turtles in the evening.

Accommodation and Location

Intro Week

We take care of all your accommodation for you during the programme. In your first week, you will be in a shared guesthouses in the village of Pejeng, about 15-minute drive from Ubud. It is proper Bali and is a beautiful rural, unspoilt village which is off the beaten track, surrounded by picturesque rice paddies. The village will offer you a true cultural immersion into Balinese culture.

You and your new friends will be staying in a traditional Balinese style property and will be living right next door to local families. It’s the most authentic way to experience Balinese culture and to meet the extremely friendly locals.

The accommodation will be in single-sex dorm rooms, sleeping between 4-8 per room. The house has 12 dorm rooms.

Although the accommodation is basic. it has everything you need, with comfortable bunk beds and a fan in each room. There is a great communal area and a basic shared kitchen with a fridge in each house. Mosquito nets are not provided in the accommodation so you may want to bring one with you. A local laundry service is also usually available for around USD5 per load.

The Bathrooms are shared, but don’t worry, they are western style toilets and there is hot water. Quick note: Some of the showers have traditional open ceilings and do not offer much privacy so you may want to bring swimming gear with you.

Ubud is just a quick drive away and we offer a shuttle service into town for anyone who needs bits n bobs, snacks etc… Plus there are ATM’s in town too.

There is also a nearby swimming pool that the volunteers can use, which is approximately a 10-15 minute walk from the accommodation.

Please note:  Since you will be living fairly close to local families, alcohol is not permitted in the volunteer houses.

Meals during these weeks are included. The food is traditional Balinese for 3 meals/day on weekdays, weekends (2 meals/ day).

Turtle Week

Once again, we got you covered, all your accommodation is provided for you during the programme, also in shared guesthouses on the unspoilt island of Nusa Penida. You have to be prepared for a more basic standard of living on the island, with less access to shops and tourist attractions, but remember, you are now in a real tropical, with the most beautiful beach practically on your doorstep. This little slice of heaven offers a completely unique cultural captivation into the Balinese way of life and you don’t get better than this!

The accommodation is basic but still comfortable with bunkbeds and a fan in each room. Mosquito nets are not provided here either, so keep that in mind. Bathrooms are shared and have western toilets and hot water.

The accommodation has curtains rather than doors due to the warm weather and the safe island location. We recommend you bring a padlock with you to lock your suitcase. You should also bring a torch with you to find your way around after dark.

There is no Wi-Fi internet access and it is super difficult to get a mobile signal on the island, but that’s part of the reason why we are here, to get away from it all.There is a hotel 20 minutes walk from the accommodation, which has internet access, a pool and a restaurant. You may want to bring books, dvds etc. to enjoy in your free time.

If you do wish to travel back to the mainland on the weekends, during your free time, then a speedboat ride costs around £6-7.

Meals

Three meals a day are included on weekdays and 2 meals (breakfast and dinner) on the weekends for the full three week programme. Indonesian food is amazingly delicious and diverse. Most dishes include sate ayam (chicken or pork skewers with satay sauce), mie goreng (fried noodles and vegetables), nasi goreng (fried rice and vegetables) or gado gado (mixed vegetables with a satay sauce). For those who do not eat meat, Indonesian cooking uses a lot of tofu and tempeh (soy beans). Other dietary requirements may also be catered for.

Arrival Details

You should arrange your arrival into Ngurah Rai International Airport (Denpasar International Airport) in Bali on a Sunday. Transfers are available if you arrive between the hours of 6.00am and 6.00pm.

When you arrive you will need to go to the visa desk and obtain your 30-day visa (you will need to have USD25 in cash with you to pay for this). It may take a little time for you to get through customs. You will be met in the arrivals hall by a representative and driven to your accommodation in the village of Penestanan Kaja. The airport transfer takes about 1 hour and is included in the trip price.

Sunday is an arrivals day only and participants from all around the world will be arriving throughout the day. No food or activities are included today, you can just take some free time to settle in and get to know the others in your group.

Departure day is Saturday. A return transfer is not included but the local co-ordinators can help you arrange a taxi for a cost of 200,000 Indonesian Rupiah (approx £10).

Regarding pick up every arrival is on Sunday from 6.00-18.00 any earlier or later  it will be extra charge for 60 EUR pay on arrival. If you already are in Bali we can arrange a pick up at no extra cost:

  • Bintang Super market (Jl. Raya Seminyak) in Legian at 13.00

Yes, We have. There is the local internet access in the house centre. Participants should bring their Laptop. The Internet is for free off charge and good enough for Email,Facebook, Blog etc. There are many restaurants and coffee shops nearby 2 minute walk with free Wi-fi as well.

If you´re here for a short time, and only staying in Ubud, you can easily get along by walking everywhere : this is one of the charms of Ubud. (Just watch out for uncovered sections of sidewalks, and please do your best to avoid stepping on the offerings the Balinese leave at the entrances to their family compounds and businesses!)

If you´re here for longer and wish to do some independent island exploration, bicycles are available for rent. Make sure you get a good helmet : roads are narrow, often full of pot holes, dogs are everywhere, and the Balinese like to drive like stock car racers! While driving, repeat this mantra: Slow and Go, Slow and Go There are plenty of drivers ready and willing to take you anywhere. Walking is still the best choices for you.

If you visit between November and April a rain poncho or umbrella will come in handy, and both can be purchased inexpensively here. As this time is Bali´s summer, the rains tend to be warm and humid, but a light jacket can be useful for evenings. May through October is typically dry season and winter. Comfortable sandals are a must, and should be easy to take off as most Balinese do not wear shoes indoors. Same day laundry service is inexpensive and plentiful, so you´re better off to pack light. Don´t forget your bathing trunks!

Anytime you go into a temple for a ceremony or tourist attraction you MUST wear a long sleeve shirt, pants or preferably sarong that cover your knees. Women and men have separate requirements.

It is recommended that you visit your GP, personal physician or a travel health clinic 4 to 8 weeks before your departure to Indonesia. Recommended vaccinations often include hepatitis A, typhoid, tetanus and polio. Bali is not a high-risk area for malaria and the tablets can be considered controversial, we recommend that you do some research and make your own decision on this. Dengue fever is another mosquito borne illness to be made aware of.

You might want to bring a prescription of Keflex, or another type of oral antibiotic that can help with stomach ailments. Even though you will be eating in good restaurants, there is always a chance that you can get Bali Belly – a mild dysentery that passes in a few days.

You will probably want to! If you would like to stay more than 30 days, you can apply for a 60-day tourist visa at the Consulate of Indonesia closest to you. You will likely have to show proof of a ticket to leave the country.

Yes, a visa is required for Indonesia. A visa-upon-arrival system is in place for most countries including Australia, Canada, US & EU citizens. When you arrive at the airport in Denpasar you will enter the Visa-on-arrival line, where you will be asked for U$25.00 and your passport will be stamped for 30 days from the date of arrival. Upon leaving, a 150,000 rupiah departure tax will be assessed.

N.B. ” If your passport is due to expire within 6 months, we advise you renew. On occasion, Indonesia has not allowed tourists into the country, and your airline might not allow you on the plane.

This programme is based in the iconic city of Buenos Aires, Argentina. You will receive up to 20 hours of fun and entertaining Spanish language lessons per week. Also, you will stay in a unique central city hostel location which offers a choice of some brilliant optional activities. This is the perfect way to get that South American cultural injection and experience Argentina like it should be.

Spanish Language Classes

Arrival day is always on a Sunday and your Spanish lessons will begin on the Monday . You will be learning in small groups at either beginner, intermediate or advanced level.

Classes are held daily, from Monday to Friday and run for 4 hours per day (a total of 20 hours per week). All courses include a study of grammar through theory and practice, and work on vocabulary, pronunciation, listening, reading and writing exercises. It is important to note that lessons are held completely in Spanish; this by far the best way to immerse yourself in the full Spanish-speaking experience, dive in head first!

Extra Activities and Cultural Excursions

Our hostel is always busy, so while you are living and learning Spanish, you’ll get to make lots of new friends and spend lots of free time enjoying all the exciting daily optional activities provided. ACCOMMODATION

For your stay in Buenos Aires, you will be staying in a hostel, located in a beautiful five-story, 19th-century house, built around a qaint, colonial-era atrium. The Spanish lessons are also given in the same building, so that’s super easy.

You will be staying in comfortable shared, mixed-sex dorm accommodation, with shared facilities. The rooms are well-kept with comfortable beds, free Wi-Fi access. A full laundry service is also offered at your hostel. If you prefer, single or twin room upgrades, please let us know, there is an extra cost; please ask for details at the time of booking.

Your Breakfast is also included. Other than this you’ll need to allow spending money for all of your remaining meals. You need to fly arrive at Ministro Pistarini International Airport (EZE), also known as Ezeiza International Airport in Buenos Aires on a Sunday. You will be met on arrival and taken to your city hostel to begin your learn to speak Spanish experience (lessons begin on a Monday).

 

The minimum age to join our programme is 18, the average age of participants is between 18 and 25. However, we welcome people of any age on this trip!

 

Currently, on a british passport, when entering Argentina, you will not require a visa and will be granted a 90 day trip permit (around 12 weeks/3 months) upon arrival. If you would like to extend your trip or plan to stay in the country longer, then a visa would be necessary. Please note that we are not held liable for any visa information and it is always best to check exactly what is needed with your local Argentinian embassy.

 

It depends how much you want to learn, but we offer classes from 1 to 4 weeks.

Sunday Arrival day and introduction

Arriving into Palma de Mallorca the transfer to the local town of Alcudia takes approximately one hour on the A32 bus service (direct from the airport). A member of our friendly team will be waiting to meet you off the bus and transfer you to the villa on arrival. You can arrive at any time on Sunday and check in after 2 pm. After checking in, you are free to chill at the villa, hit the beach, or do some stand-up paddle. A group orientation and introduction and getting to know you session will take place at 5 o’clock at the Beach House accommodation.

 

Training Schedule

 

Monday Intro Day & Start Training

Sunrise Yoga Session 07.45 – 8:45 am

As with most days, we start off with an early morning sunrise yoga session to stretch your muscles and ease you into training at 7.45 am. Sessions take place on the roof terrace overlooking the ocean, National Park and Sierra Tramontana mountain range.

Healthy Breakfast 08.45am

Then time for a healthy breakfast consisting of fruit, yoghurt, smoothie options, muesli, and eggs. Breakfast is served from 8.45 to 9.15 on the roof terrace.

High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) Fitness Sessions 09.30-10: 30 am

You´re about to experience cardio conditioning that will completely transform your body. It´s a challenge, but our amazing instructor can modify the toughest moves to help you push yourself at any level. The class is made up of four specific blocks to push every part of your body to its maximum.  Each block contains three sets of 3-minute high-intensity training, with a 30 sec recovery between each set.  Pushing you to your maximum to achieve incredible results.  No equipment or weights needed just 100% commitment.

The sessions may take place in the national park, in and around the villa, on the beach or in a number of different training areas.  These training sessions will increase your fitness levels very quickly.

Stand Up Paddle 10:45 – 11:45am

Depending on the water conditions we have a daily stand-up paddle session. The bay of Pollenca has crystal calm flat water in the morning and is the perfect place to do some stand-up paddle due to it being relatively shallow and exceptionally beautiful. Stand-up paddle is very good for your core strength and stability. Session done right would be better than doing countless crunches, and it’s a lot more enjoyable!

Buffet Lunch 12.30 – 01.30pm (Monday to Friday)

Buffet style healthy lunch served on the roof terrace or in the garden.

Free Beach Time or Kite Surfing 1.30 – 04.00pm

Time to some much needed R&R. Hit the beautiful beaches of Port De Pollenca. The nice sandy beaches are close by (5 minutes), and you will have your own bike to get you there.

If you have booked the optional learn to kitesurf course, your training time will happen between 1.30 and pm. This is the optimal time to enjoy the thermal wind which pretty much guarantees your ability to learn to kitesurf right in front of the villa.

Optional Jog or Bike Circuits 05.00pm

You have time to do a jog or bike circuit. You will be provided with a bicycle and a route. Note this is an unguided activity.

Beach Training or Volleyball 06.00 – 07.00pm

At 6 PM we do beach training, which is another HIIT style session, we do this two times a week. 3 Times a week we lay on beach volleyball or other beach training sessions which is a fun effective way of getting the blood pumping let’s hope you don’t get too competitive!

Back To The Villa 07.00pm

At approximately 7 PM it’s time to head back to the villa for showers, before heading out with the rest of the group for dinner in the local town.

Tuesday to Friday

Runs more or less on the same schedule there are however some minor changes throughout the week. For example, on Wednesday there is an excursion to the beautiful Roman town of Pollenca where you can visit a local market.

On Friday afternoons you have the opportunity to do a nature trek, this lasts approximately 2 ½ hours taking you through a beautiful valley, down to a secluded beach.

Saturday
Early risers can enjoy a beautiful sunrise SUP session, or perhaps you may prefer a lie in. After a healthy breakfast at 8:30 AM on Saturday, it’s excursion day!

There is a range of options for excursions depending on the preference of the group. Some of these excursions are free, and others incur a local charge

Some of the excursion options include:
⦁ Speed boat hire: (Minimum for persons 100 EUR per person) includes captain, fuel and boat hire 4 hours)
⦁ Formentor Beach we catch a glass bottom boat across to one of the most beautiful beaches. The journey takes 25 minutes Puerto Pollensa to Formentor the views of the bay along the way are impressive. You can get a closer look at the lighthouse at Cap de Formentor and La Fortaleza, one of Spain’s most impressive estates featured in the bbcs night manager. It is an open ticket, so you can choose the timetable you prefer to come back, so the choice of options is flexible and you are not in a rush.
⦁ Formentor look out. Head up to a beautiful world heritage site with dramatic clifftop views.
⦁ Water Park Excursion (entrance fee not included)
⦁ Pirate Boat Experience: five hours exploring the bays beaches and cliffs of Majorca, on a pirate cruiser, includes snorkelling equipment and lunch. With pickup and drop-off from the villa. €60 per person

Sunday is a rest day if you are checking out you will have to vacate your room by 10, but you are welcome to chill by the villa if you have a later flight. Say goodbye to your new friends and hello to maintaining a new healthier better you!

Locations Of Activities

While “the hub” of the Bootcamp is set at the beach house, locations for activities are spread out through the local area. You will be given a bicycle on check-in, which will be your mode of transport for the majority of the Boot Camp. The furthest distance you would have to cycle would be 10 minutes and approximately 3 km to get from the beach house to the local town centre of town. The area is well connected with bike paths and is completely flat, along the ocean promenade. Should you wish to go to the local town by taxi, it’s six euros (shared with a maximum of four others).

Accommodation: The Shared Villa

A beautiful villa based on shared dorms. The villa is located right next to the training areas, so rolling out of bed is easy. It is also a haven of relaxation when you are not training. Equipped with a rooftop terrace with views of the ocean.

Xtreme Gap Year has a Beach House in Majorca, where we run the fitness and kitesurf programmes. It has a cool vibe!  You will stay in a shared house right by the beach in a beautiful National Park. The rooms are shared between 2-4 people (same sex).

Working out together and living together is a very bonding experience, it’s a great way to make friends. Don’t worry about needing your own space also. The villa is sufficiently big with plenty of chillout areas for you to catch some quiet time too.

Due to the nature of the fitness Bootcamp, people do not tend to have late-night the villa. You will be exhausted! So you can expect to get a good nights sleep in fan-cooled rooms. In the evening there is an outdoor cinema on demand at the villa.

 

 

Beaches

With our schedule, you will have enough time (unless you include the kitesurfing) to hit the beaches. Mallorca has a lot of stunning beaches and we will have a guidebook for you to pick your favourite ones. One of the best beaches is actually only 10 minutes from our villa, so perfect to chill on a sunbed under an umbrella on your hours off in the afternoon.

Meals

We provide two healthy fresh meals per day. Breakfast from Monday to Saturday and lunch from Monday to Friday.

Breakfast is served on the roof terrace after your stand up paddle session and yoga. We provide tea coffee, delicious seasonal fresh fruit, yoghurt and eggs and a protein shake.

Lunch is served from a set menu taken at the villa. We will ensure that the diet is healthy and complementary to the training regime.

In the evenings the group heads out to the local town to eat out at a variety of the great local restaurants available. We provide suggestions of where to go, and this is a great way to experience the laid-back, great social scene of Port De Pollenca. You will need to budget to cover your evening meal costs.

Entertainment

After a hard days training, there’s plenty of chill out areas to be found at the villa if you don’t wish to go out.

There is Wi-Fi available throughout the villa, and if you’re feeling hot and in need of a swim the sea is a mere 20 m in front of the house!

 

Frequently Asked Questions

 In the bay of Pollenca on the north-east of the island.  The Beach house is front line; you are just a couple of meters from the ocean. There are loads of bars and restaurants located a short distance away, plus the setting is in a beautiful National Park with views of the mountains and ocean.

We will collect you from the Alcudia and transfer you to the beach house. There is a direct bus transfer from the airport which takes approximately 1 hour to Alcudia. You will need to make your own way to Alcudia on this bus service.

  The average age is between 20 and 30, men and women of all fitness levels can join.

  No worries, all classes are conducted in English! You will be fine.
There are 2-4 people sharing a room. (same sex)
  Mallorca has a fantastic climate. And as the villa and training are located by the sea in summer (June to September) you have a fantastic breeze here so it won’t be too hot. From about half May to en October there is almost no rain and temperatures vary between 20 and 32 degrees Celsius.
